As usual, Spys words of wisdom about checking for boost leaks has proved to be quite handy. This afternoon, while installing new shift linkage in my car, Doug (Fallen Angel on CII) noticed a pretty decent sized crack in one of my pipes. An Advanced Auto trip and 20 minutes later, my new pipe was put on and the car was up and running again.
HOLY SHIT. Running at stock boost, my car feels like a damn beast now. SO much faster than it was before. After a little driving, I even tested its legs against a certain white Honda this evening from a 40mph roll. 40-120 I was only beat by a car length, and we both started it in 3rd. (for the record though, the white Honda is still running poorly tuned, and shifted at 8k...he could have went higher). To me, this is amazing...my car seriously feels fast as hell right now. Its lovely! Sorry if I sound so damn dumb, but its very exciting to be able to hang with a 13second car while still running stock boost, a stock exhaust, and no ported parts. And for the record, ported parts, and a healthy dosage of boost control and race gas will be in the car at Cordova. |
