over the weekend my oil pressure gauge stopped working. I noticed it wile driving and let off the gas for a few seconds then got back on it and the gauge started working again. it did this off and on all weekend and this morning going to work I had no problems with it , then on the way home I looked down and no pressure. could I have a bad gauge or did something serious go wrong? sad.gif

Im not an expert here, but i would assume if something major was wrong with having no oil pressure, you would know it really quickly. My guess would be either a faulty gauge, or loose/broken electrical connector on the sending unit, check all those and see if they are ok.

Its down by the oil filter housing. Small cylindrical piece. Pretty easy for that wire to come loose or get gummed up with oil residue.

Could the dirty connector also make the oil pressure read lower than normal?

Reads about the second line at 65mph, just off the peg at idle.

Its possible since the guage reading is based off electrical resistance. Its also possible that the sender itself is malfunctioning. Mine does the same thing and shows an even lower oil pressure even at high RPM's. I bought an aftermarket oil press. guage/sender a few days ago. I'm going to try it out when I get a chance.
