Who runs Precision engines???
I've see the add pop up on here several times, but who are they??? has anyone here gone to them for work? anyone have experiences they would like to share... I would love to get a 6-bolt done sometime for my GSX but don't want to spend an ass-load of money and still want fair performance gains and decent reliability... would these people be the ones I want to go to??? would I be better off going to a shop that I have known to be in business for many years but has almost no experience with 4-cyl engines, but builds some crazy V-8's??? All opinions welcome!!! Thanks, Ben -------------------- You CAN sleep in your car, but your CAN NOT race your house!!!

I bought a motor for my chevelle there a loooong time ago. Ryan seems to do a lot of 4g63t work there. If I had another dsm, that's where I'd go.

I had Ryan rebuild my motor a couple months ago, as i wanted someone that has done 4g63 work before and not some V8 shop. I was fairly happy with the motor, only problem i had with it as far as something in the rebuild is i had some kind of check valve in the oil system seize up and not open, so my oil pump wasnt pumping, but a couple calls to ryan and he knew what to check, and was willing to drive all the way over to where im at to fix it. Luckily it wasnt a problem, and it was taken care of easily. Id say hes real good with communication and pretty fair on the price, and my motor didnt leak any oil. Amazing for a DSM.
Unfortunatly ive got my 100 mile brand new valves bent, but it was my fault for not setting the timing belt to the right tension. -------------------- 2005 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS- Pretty daily driver

Ryan is building himself a monster DSm there right now, he was kind enough to lend me a Fuel pump so I could install it asap instead of wait for it to be shipped to me.

Sorry i should have worded that different, I meant taking it to someone that does these motors all the time, and not some V8 shop where everyone there does V8s and nothing else. -------------------- 2005 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS- Pretty daily driver

In all actuality, the majority of the work that we put out is no longer V8's, it has been pritty well balaced for the last year or so.

For what it's worth at this point, I've entrusted Precision for my most recent machine work on the 2.4 build-up. I did this because they do have experience with the Mitsu 4G63 engines. More so than any other machine shop in the area. Plus their experience includes beating the snot out of them at the local circle track.
Once my engine is running I will be able to give you further information. Hopefully Cordova on Vicary Day will be the proving grounds this year. -------------------- In Loving memory of David T Crebo

Accually spy, I saw a crate motor from GM performance (saw it in Jegs or Summit)that sported 427 Cubic inch but packed into small block size all aluminum block.... I honestly say that with money to burn, that would be the best setup that I could ever think of for a GM powered car. -------------------- You CAN sleep in your car, but your CAN NOT race your house!!!

Back on track a little... What about 4G63t head work from Precision? Any valve jobs, porting, polishing?

We do any thing that you could want done to a head. We can install larger valves, P&P, resurface, presure test, ect. We have a flow bench so whe have proven gains from our port work. The best part about having a flow bench is we can see where you head started and what it flows after it's done. Lately I recive a Busher head and we out flowed it buy quite a few CFM at high valve lift and a larger number at low lift.

I think it was a hypothetical question seaking advice. My opinion...cams and gears can be done yourself if you are careful with the timing... If you are not up for that I would think that a place that can do the kind of head work indicated above should definately be able to handle the job. I don't know what the prices would look like though.
