I few months ago I started a DSM club but yet to make it public. I have a few members so far and if they are reading this then help me out with gathering more members. The name of the club is ...BOOSTED4GRACING... . The vinyls received upon entry look as follows:
dsm tuners of central Illinois ...BOOSTED4GRACING... most members have cut it in half and put one line on top of their windshield and one line on bottom or back. My name is Travis Kinney and I recently bought a 91 mitsu eclipse AWD. I am currently in the process of ordering a JDM 4G63T motor and doing a few things to the car. One member most of you might know is Adam Lee, he has a 90 Plymouth laser turbo with a few upgrades and a 2nd place win on one of the friday fun nights up in Cordova. His car among others is in the club but we are seeking more members to make the club one of the biggest around. I just recently talked to the president ( Jim Wike ) of the LAST BLAST ( CUSTOM AND CLASSIC CAR AND TRUCK SHOW), and he wants me to do my best and gain members so the two clubs can join together and hold some of the biggest car shows around. Current sponsors for his club are: advanced auto parts Spence Wiker (Green Chevrolet) Bob lindsay Honda Wal*Mart Goodfield State Bank Naramore's Exhaust Born Paint the Chrome Shack II Lumberyard Suppliers[/B] This list could probably grow alot larger with the help of our club. Anyone who is interested in joining what could become one of the biggest car clubs around can give me a call at 1-309-241-3547 anytime after 5p.m. . Or email me at treydawgnjlo@hotmail.com Once the club starts to grow we might even try to hold races at Cordova Dragway park and give away cash and prizes for that event also. thanks. -------------------- "One of the most Crazy and Undecisive Members in central Illinois"

The more the merrier.
Just so you know Travis. DSMCentral has over 500 members right now from all over the country and I hold two drag events with small cash prizes up at Cordova each year for all the local race enthusiasts. We don't have sponsorships or huge local numbers, but having you local DSM owners join with us can only help. Thanks! Marcus -------------------- In Loving memory of David T Crebo

I know that dsm central is a huge club and maybe boosted4gracing and dsm central could combine to become one. I also planned on not making the club like a boot camp having certain times and weekly events. The only rule I would inforce is that once your a member, you install upgrades on your car once or twice a month. This way there isn't anyone joining just to be in a club, but to keep the import/car scene growing throughout central Illinois or anywhere. I am a serious car enthusiast and Im trying create something so everyone with the car scene in their blood can hang out and do something that everyone likes. As far as having drunk people acting stupid and trying to race, that is the type of thing that get you KICKED OUT.

The whole "mandatory upgrade" think seems kind of bogus. It's not fair to assume that everyone has the time/money to perform a couple of upgrades every month. I don't think you have to be constantly adding things to your car to be considered an enthusiast; it's more of a mindset of doing the most you can with what you have.
I'm not dogging on your club or anything, but you may want to reconsider that idea. It would make many valuable people not want to join. I do like your attitude towards the club being a viable, useful part of the community. -------------------- QUOTE (gsxracer80 @ Oct 31 2006, 12:41 AM)

agreed, expecting someone to constantly upgrade something every month is pushing it....
I'd like to consider myself an enthusiast and my car has many upgrades, but i've definately gone more than a month without upgrading anything..... |

It sounded like a great idea until the upgrade thing came up. I couldn't do it, I barely have enough cash flow to keep it going. And a girlfriend that is so tight, you couldn't pry money out of with the jaws of life.

Well I guess it isnt that important to upgrade every month but I would just like to see the members of the club keep their cars looking and running good. I know that dsms are notorious for breaking down, so I guess as long as your car has some upgrades and is always running, that would be fine. Also there is no cost for joining, just the cost of your window decal. Although I would like to have all the members names, numbers, and info about there cars. I have printed out a list for that which can be filled out as we have car shows( get togethers ) and at events like at the track. We can also use this site to talk back and forth to each other as we are know.

Is this mainly for car shows and the like then? If so you know we may be able to make a dedicated section on the board for this activity and all the functions.

Not saying anything bad about anybodys ride but yes most dsms are not the best looking. Although if the engine is pretty than that would make up for its appearance.

The only reason I bring up the car show idea is to figure some way to bring the two clubs together. DSMCentral has never put any energy into car shows and that is about the only thing mentioned that we don't already do.
DSMCentral is all about local get togethers, hanging out, passing modification information around, and of corse racing together. And this is sufficient for me. If there is something else needed to help DSMCentral meet our needs, just let me know. BTW - JEEPS are Freakin HOT! I've seen only one 1g DSM that could ever be considered a show car, and maybe a handful that are clean enough to be "pretty cars." Most are downright ugly, faded paint, a bit of rust, etc. But 12 and 13 second slips are worth far more than shiny paint. And your constant upgrade thing is suspect. Some of the nicest cars on this site get upgraded very seldom, because they are already great cars.

I understand what you mean about the upgrade thing and I already took that policy out of the picture. That is the main reason I started boosted4gracing, is because i know that most dsm's are not in the best physical appearance. Most of the dsm cars around are fast and in the process of becoming faster. We could use dsm central as our chat line, a place to help each other out, and to do the other things that are done on the site. I figured since there might be a start to the DSM car shows, more and more get togethers, and many more members that we could be called Boosted4Gracing and maybe use DSM Central as a type of sponsor. My whole goal with the club is to sound more intimidating towards other clubs and it also would make more since why most of the cars are fast, but are not in the best condition. I know that dsm central is a club already but this could be our way of comunication with each other and boosted4gracing be the actual club name. My friend and I are going on friday to get polo shirts made to wear at the strip and any get togethers we attend. My shirt will state the names boosted4gracing and dsm central together along with other things.

We all get along well, we have a good time hanging out, bullshitting, racing, and helping each other out. The last thing on our priority list is "being more intimidating to other clubs". We are performance focused for our own reasons - mainly excelling at personal and group successes, and an all around addiction to acceleration, speed, handling, etc. I think I can confidently say most of us are past the whole "my nuts are bigger than yours" mentality. I agree Nate. DSMCentral is unlike almost any other site I've ever seen. I think messing with it, or trying to merge it with another group only spells major touble. Anyone is welcome to join, learn, contribute, and bs from time to time, but I think it needs to grow and evolve on it's own.

Yeah, this whole idea of usin the years and years of friendship and collective hard work that has made DSMCentral the great machine that it is... as a stepping stone to your "real" club is pretty much bullshit.
You go ahead and do what you want to do for your club, but don't expect the highly respected and intelligent members that peruse this board to bow down to anything except our DSMs and Evos (and occasional wife). I don't give a damn if I'm part of the baddest club this side of the mississippi. What matters to me is that fine individuals like Spy, Kicks, AWD DSM, and Natedogg bending over backwards to help me while I'm out of town with a busted car. I want a club that allows me to casually share a beer in a dirty garage with some of the most mechanically intelligent people I've ever come across. you guys are straight up whack! my boy trey is offering you all the chance of a lifetime and you're too proud to take it. You just don't know how it is on the street. I think you're all out of touch with how it is when you get down on the street. You need an intimidating club like the icy hot stuntaz from boosted 4g to have your back when the other clubs be rollin up like they all hard and shiz.
I'm taking windell, rantis, and anyone else with a little flava and seceeding from the DSMCentral union to join the true killaz from boozted. AWWWWWW JEEEAAAZ! In case you guys can pull your heads out of each others asses long enough to finish reading this post, maybe I'll point out a few of the obvious benefits to joining the boosted crew. 1. waaaaay better name. c'mon boosted is cool and racing is cooler so putem' together and you've got raw hotness 2. potential to branch off and start a sub-club like boosted4Gdrifting 3. near certainty of sponsorship for all your modification needs 4. chicks. import car clubs have plenty of hot asian snatch around at all time. unless you're gay this is a good thing naturally. 5. car shows. if there's one realm of vehicle performance that dsm's have yet to break into its the car show scene and it's a given that they would dominate. I mean companies are even makign altezza tailights for our cars now. with that kind of eye candy arsenal how could a dsm possibly loose? it's inconceivable. 6. when you're in a club like boosted you never roll alone. it's always cooler to show up to an event in synchronized perfection and then pop out the m-f'er with custom emblazoned rags sportin' the boozted crew graffix. ssssshhhheeeeaaaat, you know them suckas ain't see that comin'!!!!!! respeck!!!!!!! What---eva...I'm done with all you trill ass fools. me and trey is gonna go make history, sooooo SEEEEE YAAAAA!!!!!! -------------------- my cars breath smells like car food

QUOTE (treydawgs4g63T @ Oct 27 2005, 08:36 AM) (finally got the money to order the motor) JDM 4G63T motor and tranny I have one question... Why? You realize the JDM motors are exactly the same as the US spec, save a valve cover and what most belive to be a crappier intake, don't you? I'd save whatever you're spending on the JDM, and build yourself a forged bottom end. Also, be careful about those wheels. you'll end up tearing up the center diff because the wheels have different rolling diameters, thus making them spin at different speeds. Good way to shread a tranny. You're more than welcome on this site! -------------------- The fastest car I own is a minivan....

Welcome to the DSM world. It will take all your $$. It will inevitably cost you your sanity, etc. But one small hint... Get the car running right before you start changing variables. The car can go 12s with race gas and the stock turbo, it has been done many times. And trust me... I'm not sure what cars you have owned in the past, but a 12sec AWD can be quite a handful. Also, I second AWD DSM on the JDM engine thing. You'll learn that on a DSM, JDM means nothing. Except extra $$. The best engine I've ever had is the one in my FWD. It's a dead-stock NA from a 1g GS Non-turbo. Has held 26+ psi from a 20g for 6 months, and before that it took 21psi from a 14b for quite awhile. Cost me $500.

thanks for the info about the wheels. I guess Ill have to buy wheels too. I would bring it to the track on the 6th but I havent got the motor yet Im going to order it either this weekend or next. I know that JDM doesnt matter but I really just want another motor and tranny with low miles and the one Im getting only has 35000 on it. plus then I will have two motors and then be able to really beef up the other one over a period of time.

I have a question. How many of you think I would be better off taking the motor and out and have it boiled and honed with a slight rebuild/upgrade of internals. Instead of buying the JDM motor? Please let me know b4 I order.

If there is possibly nothing wrong with your current engine, just put a bit back to build one on the side and drive the piss out of the one you have. These engines are stout, and typically pretty durable. Just don't run it lean, watch your knock sums.

Yeah, man, if you just want a spare engine, buy a US market 6 bolt. Once you boil, machine and rebuild it, it'll have 0miles on it. Makes sense to me. Dollars and sense even!

I might have had the hightest mileage motor before I got rid of it to an idiot who blew it up. It had 188k miles on it. I bought it with 170k and boosted it as high as 20psi. 144k? PLEASE. It's still young(er). Do the rebuild and save a buttload of money. Better yet, do what Moushon did. Buy a NA motor. Build that one while you still drive on the one you have.

Sounds like a plan. Although I do have one question. Adam sold me the car with no motor for 500 bucks. Now I told him that I need the motor and tranny also and now he wants 1500. The car needs full exhaust, full interior, rotors, spark plugs, injectors, ecu, rims and tires, I had to fix the front bumper and put one of the side skirts back on. Now do you guys think that it is worth 1500 or what seems reasonable. Let me know so I can agree on something with him.
Thats what i plan on doing now is to just put the stock motor back together and run the piss out of it. Anybody know of anyone who has a ecu for a 91 awd eclipse. If so let me know i need one. Also need injectors. -------------------- "One of the most Crazy and Undecisive Members in central Illinois"

Pm me, I think I can help you with the injectors. If badbu68 ever gets my 2nd ECU done I will sell my spare to you. It's the one I'm running in my car now. Been about a month sense I replaced the Caps. Let me know if you would like to have them. Let me know if you need any other engine parts also.
