As you all know this is my first rebuild on one of these motors. My question is on the oil feed line where should I run that from? I am running a garrett .50 trim. Now on the return line is there a gasket for the pan or should I lightly dab gasket sealer on it? I also did not get a pan gasket, so dhould I dab the sealer on it to? Just not real sure of what to do. I have read threads that say no matter what you do it will always leak.

There is a gasket for the oil return line. For the oil pan a bead of sealant will work fine. There is a company that makes a 4g63 oil pan gasket but I haven't messed with that.
As for the oil feed line the latest craze is from the oil filter housing. This is no recommended for ball bearing turbo. BB turbos should have the oil pressure reduced by using some type of orfice or taking oil from the head or both depending on the situation. -------------------- |

I have another question about the fitting that bolts to the pan. Has anyone ever o-ringed one of these? It is just a question. I was thinking that if it was o-ringed it would seal better. Correct me if I am wrong. But I am also interested in the input on this question. Thanks guys!

It very well might be. I think most people just end up tapping the hole and running a stainless line to it. At least that's how I've seen most high end turbo setups.

Well....... This is what I have done.
I had bought a ss oil return line for my .50 trim. I sat and thought about this for awhile yesterday. And then I started making phone calls to see if there was someone that could o-ring my an fitting. No one could do it that is around me. So I started thinking harder, what tools do I have to do this. Tools: Sharpie Drimmel tool Cutting bit Material needed: O-ring size is I/D=5/8, O/D=13/16, thickness 2.62 -AN fitting that bolts to the pan I took the sharpie and colored the flat part of the o-ring. (where it would lay) Then I centered the o-ring on the -an fitting. I made sure that the o-ring was center to the hole. And pressed ever so gently, so's to not get the o-ring out of shape. Then I took the dremel and the cutting bit. And commenced to cutting out the groove for the o-ring to set in. This takes a steady hand so take your time doing this. It took me right at 2 hrs to get it right. And a couple of racks across the fingers with the cutting bit. I recessed my o-ring about half the width so that it will get a good seal. When I get a chance to start the car I will let everyone know how it works. But in my own mind it should be better than any gasket put there. Hope this helps some people take a different look at the seal on the oil return line. -------------------- |

I used the pan gasket from the auto parts store, and siliconed the crap out of it and it never leaked on me in the 6 months i had it.
