lets take a small census of who is doing what these days.....
I guess I will start off... The Mutant GSX looks to be securely holding her position in my stable for the time being (That is until she pisses me off again) - new things happening include trying to get her set up for the autoX in November that means a AFPR, hooked up saleen fuel pressure guage, new spoiler, some custom brake venting, Prelude seats installed, and rear seat temperarily removed. The Fiero leaves tomorrow..... yeah!!!!!! whoa shit.... did I miss something??? Kris sold the GSX, Nate is looking at selling the TSi.... Marcus, weren't you looking to sell off a week or so ago too.... where the hell is Spy????? -------------------- You CAN sleep in your car, but your CAN NOT race your house!!!

We've been playing the DSM game longer than most on here. Kicks, Miami, and I have been with DSMcentral since the begininng in 2001. That's a long time to wrestle with DSM's.
I think the board itself has grown into something great and should remain DSMCentral forever. I've made many friends on here and plan to continue making this my number one go to board no matter what I'm driving at the time. |

I think I came on shortly after the board was started... I still remember the yahoo group, that was a blast. Back then we were still breaking new ground.
Currently I'm concentrating on Shamou, the overweight excusee for a car (3000gt vr4). Car's got a long history with the group, part of the reason I choose to keep it rather than the Talon I built this summer. Personally, I'm getting tired of working on cars, and look forward to relaxing and spending some time with the kids this winter. -------------------- The fastest car I own is a minivan....

I'd been at mine for quite some time as well and it was getting a bit redundant trying to fix it 11.5 months of the year.
I just got finished having this conversation with my boss actually. Life is short. Too short not to enjoy the many things at your disposal. So go out and experience them but don't let your friends down. Hence the reason I don't plan on leaving the DSMCentral Clan anytime soon. To me working on, and figuring out how to make a car faster and/or better is a major point of gratification for me. Don't get me wrong, it needs to be balanced out with my other love... Driving to N-th degree of my ability and the cars control. Needess to say I haven't gotten to do that in a while. So I do grow weary at times.
![]() I'm not wired the same as the masses though. I knew a long time ago that I will be doing this kind of thing long after most have moved on to other things. I can't help it, my brain is constantly revolving around cars, engines or the combination. Even when I'm trying to think about other things! It's a sickness I'm sure. I damn near go stir crazy when I don't have a car project ot think about. This is why the DSM has fit so nicely into my life. I am parting out Stitch, I am not supposed to have this car or something. I am out of money and time to work on her. I have had more problems with this one than I did the 1G that I had.
So I figure I will sell all and start over when the time is right. I am not saying goodbye to DSM's, But taking a much needed break from them. -------------------- |

Yep, sold the GSX... well, you know how DSM sales go, I basically took a little bit of cash, took some parts off the car that would be semi-easy to sell, and took the title on an 02 GSXR600 Telefonica. just your standard barter session.
Still have the Evo though and though my Baby Kahuna turbo from SBR turned out to be a monster turd, I now have a 3076R to put on there when I get back to the states. I guess I didn't learn my lessons very well on Analube, I'm still making the same old mistakes. Other than that, I've been working over in England and I'll be here till the end of the year at the very least. Doesn't leave me much of an opportunity to do much with cars, but aside from that, it's not bad. That's what's up with me. -------------------- my cars breath smells like car food

Not that I'm a big part of the "community" around here, but I've been laying very low as well. Got the car up and running moderately well- and even that may be a sever overstatement- but there's so much left to do. Got a kid on the way, need to build a nursery, ect. Seriously considering selling the car off and walking away from the whole thing. I've just got too many other hobbies to balance, and a child won't help the situation.

I'm pretty new on here too. My car spun a rod bearing a while back now and so I am finally starting on the rebuild (My first one!). Stock internals, ARP hardware, BS removal, Ported Big16g, FMIC (As seen in NEW TOYS thread), 850cc Injectors, DSMlink, Walboro 255, AEM afpr, Prothane Motor Mounts, Need to get my new Tokico Illuminas on as well as my new exhaust, might do some porting, DKS cams, Skunk2 Cam gears, Apexi Turbotimer. Pretty long list I know... Hoping for it to be done by the summertime, although I am sure that's impossible. I'm really busy with school and work. Would anyone be interested in helping me?

Good guys, lets keep making our DSM's better and better for the next season. I just started on my new one also. 94 GSX that we just finished swapping in a rebuilt 6 bolt. I also have full 3" thermal r&d exhaust w/ o2 eliminator. I also just got my box of goodies from slowboyracing.com today so all hell is about to break loose!

I might hold on to mine a little while longer. It's running pretty strong right now. Only problem I'm having is the boost guage line keeps popping off. I think I'll be fixing that with some compression fittings. Other than its tuned in pretty well on pump gas right now and runs even better on race gas.
![]() My dilemma now is whether to take it to the track or not. I enjoy driving around on the street so much that I don't know if I want to take it to the track and break it. Seems like I always break it at the track. And I DON'T want to spend any more money on it if at all possible. I've been good at resisting the mod bug lately and I don't want to succumb to the repair bug either. |

Nate, keep it tuned EXACTLY the way you have it and race it. A lot of times everyone always tries to see how much more they can get out of it when they deviate from their original tune they had on the street with either race gas and more boost or other variables. Bottom line, you know how fast your car is the way you have it. As long as you take it to the track knowing this, the happier you will be when you leave in one piece.
And, yes, I am fully aware it's a DSM, so it could break. -------------------- -The original (member) 007. Stop looking at me Spy!!

I hear you Jbone and that's exactly what I'll do if I do take it. I'm pretty confident in the engine at this point. Its launching on the sticky drag strip that scares me. I don't want to break any drivetrain parts either. Launching on the road results in all 4 tires spinning. Launching at the drag strip at this power level could easily result in broken axles, clutch, driveshaft, transmission. I don't mind spending the time in the garage to fix these things. I just don't want to drop any more money into the pit. We'll see...

Well I had my car running. Not great but running none the less. Now it appears I need to re4place the timing belt. Found a tear in it and a small chunk taken out of it. This belt has less than 400 miles on it. It also appears to have jumped time. I was driving yesterday and when I went into third I felt a slight loss of power. My passenger didn't even notice it. I immediately lifted and when I pressed down again it would spool but no power
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Those timing marks are with the CAS adjusted all the way clockwise just so that was a little closer so that I could get it home. God I hope none of the valves got screwed up. ![]() -------------------- Brian J

So far I have... K&N Intake UICP Spearco SMIC MBC The car also came with cross drilled rotors, a walbro 255(Im not sure maybe its a 190 but its darn loud)and supposedly an ACT 2100. Well, got the exhaust and engine work done on the DD so what's left is the sound system then the vvtl controller.
As the Evo goes it's a new MBC and ignition amp for starters. From there I'm gonna keep flirting with the idea of something to tune her with. We'll see! -------------------- ... she likes bein' forced ...

Well I finally got around to doing a compression test to see what damage was done when she jumped time and the results are...........dry test, 140 on all four.........wet test 165-170 across the board.
Looks like I am one of the few lucky ones that didn't bend or break anything when the timing jumped ![]() Although it seems that my rings may be a little worn, but that is a little better at the moment than having to rebuild the head or more. well, with the autocross season officially ended... looks like it is time for the GSX to hibernate for the winter... my next debate is weather to finally build this damn 6 bolt block and swap it in or just do the timing belt and water pump on my old motor and keep it in service until it finally takes it's last beating... with 108,XXX miles on the stock bottom end and nearly 30K on the reman head, I think it might be a driving time bomb, or it could just be working on a record... decisions, decisions!!!
