OK. I got the car running finally. Thanks to Kris. BUT, as im sitting there messing with it, I hear a grinding noise coming from under the hood. At first I thought it was the ISC, but then realized that it was coming more from the tranny area. So, I get in the car, push the clutch in, it stops. Let the clutch out, it starts again. WTF is this? Throwout bearing?? Thanks guys. And thanks Kris for the emissions help.

OK. I'm fairly confident after talking to my dad that it is the throwout bearing. So...... would you guys reccomend replacing the entire clutch assembly?? Or jsut the TO bearing? I just figure that while the tranny is apart it would be easier in the long run to replace it all. I was planning on doing SAFC or suspension with the money ive saved, but I've got a 13-14 second range car with a stock clutch. It would probably be wise to upgrade soon anyways. Suggestions??!!?? Anybody got any slightly used ACT2100's for sale for a fairly good price? Thanks guys. smile.gif

Well, I don't know how far you want to take the car Mark. But if you're planning on 12's or lower anytime soon I'd go with either the 2600 or a Starr Stage 2. The 2100 only adds about 18% torque capacity if I remember right. But if that's all you need, that's cool. Josh at Slopny can order a Starr for you.

Thanks Nate. I'l probably go with the 2600 then. I've heard its a little rough, but oh well. I've got to be able to hold the power (and blow up my tranny) I guess.

Hey Mark I am pretty sure it is the throwout bearing too. It did that to me once when I had the car up on jack stands running but then it never happened again so I left it alone. Was it just another bad ECM that was causing your running problems?

Yeah, it (the TOB rattling) quit after I took it out for a little drive. I'll probably replace it with an OEM one anyways though, becuause i'm pretty sure ive picked up an ACT2600. I'm still not sure if its the ECU. I'm pretty sure it is though, because when I plug the old one you gave me in it only fires on 3 cyls, but runs fine other than that. When I plug the one that you bought from Kris in it fires on all 4 but idles like crap and you can hear the ECU shutting off and back on really fast when it almost dies. I'm going to buy a new ECU and take it to parkway mitsu to make sure there isnt a short somewhere that is causing it to eat ECU's. I also replaced teh capacitors in both ECU's and neither one is fixed.
