Well ive got everything disconnected and the engine ready to pull exept i cant get the transfer case off???? The manual says, drain-remove 4 bolts (there was 5 on mine?) then pull to the side and remove of driveshaft. I have the bolts off but i cant disengage it from the tranny/driveshaft someone tell me what im doing wrong.

It should come off, assuming you removed the correct bolts (5 - 17mm head). If it has never been off before, its likely quite stuck, and you'll have to pry it away from the transmission. You'll want to grease the splines a little before you re-assemble it.

Engines out!!!!! and its only 3 AM, the neighbors probably don’t like me anymore though biggrin.gif Transfer case came off after a little persuasion. my main problem ended up being the control arms (needed to come off because of bad ball joints) I am now looking for a set of used ones with good joints and I also need a set of ball joint type links that connect the sway bar to the control arm. They were both completely rounded out so I just cut them in half on the shaft. If anyone has a parts car with a good set let me know ASAP. Thanks for all the help.

You can pick up new stock sway bar end links at a very reasonable price as long as you don't go to a dealer. BTW - let us know what you find inside.

yep it was a bearing. It was my front balance shaft bearing the one right next to the case. Thats all ive noticed so far i'm waiting for autozone to open for a few parts then im going to drop the crank later. everything seems solid in there though. Also my oil pump pick up tube was probably 30% blocked from bearing shavings. When i pulled the balance shaft the bearing came out with it, just kind of sitting on it. Now im going to have to fork over shit loads of cash to Kalinas to get all of my machine work done. sad.gif

If it's just a balance shaft, you might be able to get by with just putting an eliminator kit in and buttoning it back up. There is always the possiblility that the shavings got into other stuff and caused damage. I guess it comes down to asking yourself if you feel lucky....

well, do ya....

I've got most of those parts if they're for a 1G AWD. Might be a few days before they are off the car and available though so not sure how much help I can be if you are on a short timeline.

Sent you a PM
