j/k

In all seriousness, I think it will look pretty damn sweet when you get it all sanded and painted. And supply some nice cool air.

I'm actually really excited about this project. Look at the shot from further back that shows the whole hood. Finished, sanded and painted I think it will look good. More importantly, block off that K&N from the rest of the engine bay and we're talking ice cold air and a ram effect.

I say we break out the temp probes and take some readings with the scooped hood vs. stock at a few speeds and see what it comes up with.

I'd run one. biggthumpup.gif

Y not try smaller reverse cone shape in the front to get the air in an upward direction. kinda like this \/. I think it'd reduce some drag while not blocking much air.

KOUmotorsports is interested in finding out. I'll help with temp sensors and if we can get an ultra consistent driver for some G-tech or track times. I'm betting Wortdog has some ideas on the best way to test the temp and systems for probes/sensors. Or Nate as well.

I'm all about showing the documented gains from a product.

I've got a remote temp sensor that I was measuring underhood temps with, like 2 years ago. It was a cheap digital from RadioShack and only read up to 150 deg. F. However when moving the temp would stay between 120 and 150, but at a stop it would climb out of range.

We can use this sensor unless someone can come up with a higher range unit.

I was thinking about this and I just have some ideas, I am in way a profesional but just some thoughts.

I would make it more like this then so rounded:

then make the side like this:

I dont know what would be best, making an inclosed box under the hood around your air filter or just leaving it like it is. I would imagine that an inclosed box idea would keep some of the engines heat out of the intake!

Yeah look pretty good so far... just the usual wet sanding with alot of different grits! HEY when you get done actualy paint it to match... unlike these ricer fags that put body kits and scoops on and leave them primer grey or not the same color at the rest of the car!

Whoa! I dont think that anybody is a ricer because they have primer and I think its pretty harsh to use the word "fag" in such a demeaning manner. But hey, maybe im just a little to modest. I personally probably wouldnt paint it just because the money spent on the paint could have been spent to make the car faster. My car looks like a rusty POS and I think its great. biggrin.gif

OK ever so sorry! just a joke, ya know chuckle chuckle! im not riping on gays or anything... It just kids that think that body kits that scrape the rail road tracks are cool and make you go fast... and there is a difference to spending the cash on performance parts rather than paint, thats fine but when you do have the money but you would rather go out and buy worthless crap and then whine about it all the time... THATS what ticks me off

Are you still running the 1G mas? The idea of a panel filter is great, be even better with a blow-through translator set-up and a custom pipe. The lower housing would be easy to fab. Or you could put fake vents from a Z34 and tape them on with APC stickers. Seems to work well on old J-Bodies. Like 1,500hp or close to, anyway.

Spy, I don't have access to a TIG currently, but in all honesty, it could be done every bit as well with a MIG. A little bit of 18 guage mild, some powdecoat, could be very pretty... Let me know.
