not to my knowledge. you have to place it there because otherwise it would be the same as placing it in the stock location only farther up the line. This way the air is being metered after the bov dumps pressure.

i saw something about pushing too much boost can shatter the MAF....anyone know how high you can boost on the setup?

I've heard that you should keep it at least 8" from the throttle body, but I don't know why. I've also heard that you should keep it as far away from any bends that might be "in front" of it...that has something to do with the way that the air flows around the bends (vortices, maybe?) and hits the actual MAF sensing "parts."

Its designed to have the air go strait through it. If there's a bend then more air will be going through one side or the other throwing off its measurements.

upon inspection last night I've noticed that my hard upper intercooler pipe is in fact not 3" but instead 2 1/2" my MAF is 3" so if I use a reducer hose it will work but I am afraid that it won't work right. so I guess that I should probably wait to install it till I scrape up enough cash to install a 3" UICP... that is unless someone on this board has one for sale on the cheap...

Most setups I've seen running a 3" MAF put it into a 2 1/2" pipe with reducers. The worst that can happend is 90% of the air will go through the center 75%. If you look at the "hot wires" they are positioned in the center. This means it will read slightly to high which you can simply correct for later.

I got the GM MAF physically installed but dont know how to hook up the harness, or anything, I got instructions with the translator but they look so confusing to me, who knows what to do??? I am in Peoria near SloPny now so if some one wants to help me out a little I would appreciate it.

also..... I would like some help getting my trani out since I have never done it before and I can't seem to get any of my lazy friends over to help either.
