allright, well gsx, i love what you did with your car... starting a thread based on your project, so, i'm kind of stealing your deal.. Some new pics of the car, and a to do/ done list of things coming and going on sally...

for the sake of time, right now here's where she sits... later on i'll post whats on and what's still on the shelf....
Sally's Garage

I stole ph34r.gif 's custom hood... Sorry ph34r.gif , i've wanted to hump it for a while... I think it's the ricer inside of me that tries to hide behind 'it's for performance' comments.

going to go glossy black on the hood...

and here's a side shot,

geez that back wheel is floating in there... light little lady is ready to be lowered.

a shot of the engine bay as it stands now...

mmm... all that space... leaves more bolts readily exposed to be broken...

she's ready for another wash and wax job, but i'll be happy that i'm doing it to a car that runs now. I'll be posting up my laundry list of things to do, and things already done later today... these are just a couple of updated pics that i finally got around to uploading to reward her for running, and leaking oil.

akamaimi... heard you might be a good person to ask... 5 pt harnesess, meant to connect to a roll bar...

i have no roll bar, and i have stock seats... although a roll bar is in the plans, long term, for now, what advice do you/anyone have???? I've heard stuff about extensions and certain 'back seat belt' locations... any pointers?

thanks in advance.

I think the only way to safely/DOT legal way to do it is put them on a roll bar. Say you get into an accident with 5 point harnesses anchored to the floorboards. The problem you will be facing is that if you get hit hard enough or wreck hard enough the car will flex and bend. Thus, the floorboards and chassis is going to flex creating slack in your seatbelts and therefore doing no good. The reason stock seatbelts work is because they are attatched to the B pillar and other stronger points in the car. A good rollcage will stiffen your chassis and prevent the accordion effect.

BTW, beautiful car. Mine is a close twin.

for premium bucks, sparco (and i'm sure some other companies) make a bar that attaches at the b pillar and the floor and like two other locations that runs behind the front seats at about shoulder level that you can attach the harness to.

actually, the reason you dont attach belts to the floor board is because if you are moved forwards you become in line with your belt mounting points thus removing all give from them and compressing your spine. you dont want your spine compressed thats never a good idea.

This is what I was told at the dirt track why we have to have the belts mounted on the roll cages. Just going off of what track officials have told me.

thanks for the feed back, appreciated...

allright... so general consensus is to wait on the harnesses...

but, just to clarify... i have a daily driver... talon is rarely taken out, for fun... main intentions are track car that is streetable...

so question is, with those goals in mind, and the fact that it is driven rarely, does that change any opinions????

if so, on to the next mod on the shelf... I'm sitting on a supra fuel pump becuase the 19mm to 14mm combination on the fuel line running out of the fuel pump is on there damn good. I have pb blasted for over a month on a regular basis... but it still feels like the hard metal line is either going to snap or kink when i'm trying to break that combination... unless some one has a better idea, my plan is to use a line cutter to cut that line, install the pump, and then use high pressure line to connect the two ends of the metal hard line...

comments suggestions???

thanks again...

this is what happened to my fuel line when I installed my walbro 255 pump..... and the high pressure hose patch trick hasn't failed me yet
