I hope I don't jinx myself here, but I just thought I would give everyone a report on how the Pace Setter Tubular Header is holding up.
I know that Pace Setter didn't have a very good reputation for Sport Compact tuners, especially with the welding job, thats why I am doing this I picked it up from Spooled91. it was "second hand", but never used when I picked it up it was painted black from the factory I sent it to get ceramic coated through Winners Circle when I got it back it was beautiful, silver in color, almost a polished appearance since I have put it to use for the last 2500 miles I have only one complaint, the ceramic coating now has a powdery finish, but it doesn't blue or anything of that sort.. it appears that the header seals fine, both at the flange at the turbo and the flange at the head, there seems to be no issues with leaks at the welds either I am using Genuine Mitsu gaskets at both ends and I attribute some of my success because of that also, even through I have not sent it to a dyno, I am sure that I would see a gain similar to the gains seen by the test header from SS auto chrome (?? I think thats where they got it) that KOU and company saw the other plus that I saw was fitment, during install, I had NO fitment issues, the header lined everything up in the excact location as stock... i was even able to put my A/C fan back in place... and some of the stud nuts at the head were acually easier to get to with the header, than with the stock manifold all in all, I give the PaceSetter header -------------------- You CAN sleep in your car, but your CAN NOT race your house!!!

Looks sharp! I saw it in person, it is really impressive. I'd love to see an actual dyno run on one. Hmmm... Where can I find one and for how much?

I think Kris bought one to see what it looked like. The quality was pure crap. Weld berries everywhere, just waiting to fall into your turbo. Welds weren't that great. Not the best collector design. Not to mention Pacesetter and SS AutoChrmore are NOTORIOUS for cracking, breaking, and lots of other bad things because of the cheap way in which they are made. Hopefully you don't have any problems, but with most products, you get what you pay for.
Sorry to be the bad guy and piss on your rainbow. -------------------- |

Maybe the welding has been improved?

the weld quality looked really good to me, and the construction appears to be very sturdy... I guess we will see what happens down the road, but like I said in the initial post, I have already put 2500 miles on it with no incident.
