a friend of mine bought a 91 laser ECU from a guy on DSM trader and the plugs don't fit and the mounting brakets are missing. the part number on the ECU is MD750093. i did a search on google for the part number and i found a guy in canada looking for an ECU with the same part number for his auto. are the ECU clips and brackets differant in the auto? i am 95% sure that his car was and auto-manuel swap so i can't imagine there would be any difference.
is there any way to tell if an an ECU is for an auto or manuel from the numbers? the guy said that he pulled it from his 91 laser RS 5 speed is there a differnace between the 91 laser ECU and 91 talon AWD ecu? any info would help. thanks. -------------------- ![]() |

looked on vfaqs. best i could find was that the auto ecu is designed for the smaller injectors.. i think like 390's or something like that.

thanks christian... that auto ECU was my guess too. but that doesn't explain the missing brackets and the fact that it doesn't plug into the harness. i will just tell brandon to email the guy and get his money back and say it is an auto ECU.

It should still plug in though. I've seen some slightly differing brackets on a few (I think GVR4 maybe) but they all plugged into the harness.
I can't speak for every last variation but I have plugged auto ECU's into manual tranny cars. Both to test as well as by accident when we've had misdelivered ECU's that turned out to be auto ECU's. Are you sure that this ECU is for a 1G DSM? -------------------- |

Very possibly from a 2G. The plugs are different on those cars from the 1Gs.

he is going to be down here next weekend. if he hasn't already sent the ECU back could anyone take a look at it and see if they can identify it?
