What is your price range? Keep in mind you're going to have to buy the supporting mods to support this new turbocharger. The bigger the turbo=the more you're going to have to spend in supporting mods. I.E. fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator, fuel injectors, tuning system, datalogging system, exhaust system, etc etc... the list never ends. It's more than just buying a turbocharger. What do you want in a turbocharger? Everyday driveability or race only? And finally, just how deep are your pockets?

Well, to give you an idea, here's what I'm going with.
Evo III 16G turbocharger Whalbro 255lph fuel pump Aeromotive fuel pressure regulator with -6AN line fittings something like 680cc injectors (big injectors so I don't have to worry if they're too small) manual boost controller SBR massive front mount intercooler with 2.5 inch piping short routed 2G MAS converted Apexi SAFC Evo III O2 housing 2G or Evo exhaust manifold datalogger to monitor all of it ACT 2600 lightweight flywheel (unsure of the brand at this point) 3 inch turboback exhaust once I acquire all of these parts, I'll be ready to upgrade my internals as well shot peened stock rods Wiseco pistons oil squirters welded shut ARP head studs Crower big stage 2 cams Crower springs and retainers -------------------- "I hear he tunes the space shuttle also...and that thing is fast"

All of this is mild compared to some setups.
And in my opinion, if you don't have the money to buy it all at once, buy it one piece at a time and keep it on the shelf until you've got the mods to support it. Don't put it on without the right supporting pieces to back it. Also 16psi on a 16G is a different cfm than 16psi on a 14B or a T25. 16psi on 14B equals more cfm than 16psi on a T25 16psi on a 16G equals more cfm than 16psi on a 14B So, don't get the idea that you can slap on a big turbo and turn the boost down temporarily until you get the supporting mods. It doesn't work that way and you're better off just to wait until you can afford the other mods. -------------------- "I hear he tunes the space shuttle also...and that thing is fast"

I don't remember you exact set up, but if i remember correctly you are running the 14b with 450's. And that 2.4l is still thirsty. YOu aren't maxing out the turbo you have right now.
If you want more powah now, and to hit your weak link now, while having it be money well spent for future said turbo, your first move is to buy some hefty injectors. atleast 550's for the 14b, or 750-80 for the 20g. this should cure your current problem and allow to crank up the boost. you will need something to support these, ask if you want more information on that. -------------------- game over.

It would be a crying shame to go with anything smaller than a 20g. Take full advantage of the displacement you have at your disposal.
I would run 780+cc injectors with a MAF-T, and a big snail. You have the luxury of decreased spool on everything. A 20g on that stroker will spool like a 16g on a 2.0. That engine ran great on a frank3, why not go that route? Be sure you have some sort of stepped boost control for traction purposes. Good luck! -------------------- 2009 Scion Tc

i'm running right now
450's 14b 255 walbro hp pump ic pipes 2g manifold mbc 2100 act 2.5" cat back i want to keep upgrading but i don't want to go broke lol. i was planning on buying one part at a time and shelving it until i've got everything to step up a stage. and i do understand the cfm rates for the turbos. took awhile but i think i've got it. with that said...sounds like i'm looking for some big ol' injectors. xian you said you got some 550's?....anything bigger? btw i think my starter's screwed over....it took me 10mins to start my car today (rare) it was idling funny too....could be something with my plugs...not really sure...and low 2nd is nothing...no pull or anything...it's like you hit the gas and you flood it until 2800rpms -------------------- it's not a dsm unless it's leaking something

The first thing I though of after reading your post is a misfire. If it's been a while (i.e. over 30,000 miles since you're last change) you're due for a new set of plugs and maybe wires anyway. Check spark first

hey xian, did you guys switch over my NGK plugs along with the swap? plugs only had about 6K miles on 'em. what do you mean by "check spark first"

That has happened to me twice.
It was the wires once, and the plugs the other. If it revs OK when barely accelerating, and misfires under load/boost, most likely the wires. Check for oil soaking. -------------------- 2009 Scion Tc

Also check those ic pipes... if one happens to blow off, it can cause symtoms like that.

it's not the ic pipes....i was with rollout when he first hooked up his super16g and we blew the ic pipes off...nothing like that. i'm talking i start the car and it's idling around 500-700....very irratic. i give it a little gas and it dies. the only time it "misfired" while under pressure was when travis and I put it at 16psi..which should be just right for a 14b. but i mean right after i shift from 1st to 2nd and gun it alittle....nothing...then after i hit 2700rpms or whatever it starts moving lol it feels as though i'm flooding it.

I believe he meant check the intercooler pipes for boost leaks, not so that one doesn't pop off. Boost leaks can create similar problems.
I say check spark first because, besides checking for boost leaks it's about the easiest method of diagnosis you can do. Unplug the plug wires from the spark plugs, remove the spark plugs, plug the spark plugs back into the wires and set them all on top of the valve cover making sure that the plugs are grounded to the valve cover. Then have a buddy get in the car and crank it over. Spark should be very defined and noticeable. If it's not, start there. -------------------- "I hear he tunes the space shuttle also...and that thing is fast"

ok it's been about a week and i still can't get a hold of KOU so i'm still needing help. alright...there was all the things i've allready mentioned and now something new is wrong
my mbc's set for 15psi. on a 14b (common) i was doing 50 last night and decided to test it a little so i gunned it to 80mph (in 5th) it at first went straight to 15psi then dropped (very quickly) to 12psi then slowly but steadily dropped to 1psi by the time i hit 80mph....i'm not brainiac gear head but something tells me this isn't my normal boost creep. comments? -------------------- it's not a dsm unless it's leaking something

Check this vfaq on how to make a boost leak tester and how to check for leaks. Its pretty easy and well worth it.

depending on the size of the leak you can usually hear it. blip the throttle cable and just check all the connections. MAF-intake pipe, intake pipe-turbo, turbo-Jpipe, Jpipe-lower IC pipe, lower IC pipe-IC, IC to upper IC pipe, any coupler in a hard upper IC pipe, connection into throttle body. just check all the rubber and bolts on those connections. i had a hose clamp slice through a coupler on my IC pipe and it did basically the same thing.
