Ok I have narrowed my search down to 2 cars both of which I really want. The contenders,

#1 ~ 10,000$
1998 Camaro SS 6 speed
45,000 miles
Midnight blue
Black leather interior
Never modified
Very clean
No warranty
Very local

#2 ~ 15,000$
2000 Trans Am WS6 6 Speed
44,000 miles
Midnight Blue
Black leather interior
Upgrades include Hotkis panhard rod, Jegs rear lower control arms and Flowmaster Muffler
Still 2 year or up to 75k warranty
Not so local, in Philly

The 2nd car would have to be shipped from Philly PA and would be around 700$ or so. I love the looks of the T/A's and it is really clean. The SS is a nice car and cheaper but I don’t know what to do. The SS does not have any SLP options and the TA has all options with a 3.42 rear. I’ve been changing my mind all day and am going to make a move on one of these in the next few days but cant decide. What are the opinions of anyone in here?

Thats one of the problems im having. I never have any free time and dont know how the hell i, or someone i can get ahold of can check the car out. But damn i want that car. Only other options would be to fly out and drive it back. 13 hour drive back though ph34r.gif

here's my .02

first off,
don't buy anything that you haven't test driven (including women cool.gif )
especially don't buy something that you haven't even seen in person

second thing,
don't be in a rush to buy a car, if someone snags the one you want, there will always be more. so don't sacrifice quality, price or the ability to look at or test drive a car. These 2 simple rules will help to prevent being burned.

just my advise, thanks for the time!!!

Defiantly, I have been looking for a Somewhat performance / Somewhat everyday driver for 4 months now. My Talon went down on Jan 31 of this year and I have been bumming rides since blink.gif So it is beyond time for me to get something, but I have had experiences in the past where I have been in a rush and got burned bad. Kind of why I have been so reluctant to just make an impulse buy. But I will either meet him somewhere in Ohio or catch a plane out there and cruise back in if everything checks out.

Yeah ive been that way a couple times but I don’t really know anybody off hand that has a car that would make it that far on a 1 way and defiantly not round trip. Might have to get ahold of a few old time friends.

I'd say go for the Camaro. Personally, I enjoy the WS6 Trans Am's very much but, Those SS Camaros are very nice, especially in the midnight blue exterior and 6 speed trans. It wouldn't be hard at all to modify it with the extra money you would have spent on the Trans Am.

No extra money, just a check good "up to" my max amount. So really comes down to a diffrence in payments.

www.ls1tech.com

hit the classifieds, you can find 400+ rwhp fbodys for under 14k if you look, and arent worried about shipping.

The SS is a nice deal, the TA doesnt have crap for mods that you cant knock out in an afternoon. Also, the TA shouldnt have much for SLP options unless its a firehawk, but I dont really remember what crap SLPS would do, besides exhaust maybe an airlid and stereo crap(yes stereo), and neither are new enough to have the LS6 intake stock. I thikn a 3.5xx is stock, and wouldnt want anything larger anyways, I mean they aren't THAT fast biggrin.gif

I would sit on LS1 tech and wait a bit, so you can find cars like this: http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=312187

this is a steal at 10g's imho:
http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=319890

not bad for an auto:
http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=324413

also a great price for 405rwp, 11k:

Beautiful car. Now you can tell everyone else you meet that you drive a Camaro.....but the Camaro is your "slow" car.

I was thinking today ............... 3850!!! Damn, I talked to the dealer and the place that sold it said the owner stopped back to have another car worked on. From what he said The car was local driven by an early 30 something that was a big audio guy. Loving the ride so far. Man im going to need some getting used to RWD i just spin. SLP lid and K&N on the way, hooker headers and SLP exhaust in a few weeks. biggthumpup.gif

only get Longtube headers and don't get SLP exhaust!

have someplace local fab up true duals and just dump em at teh rear axle(or else true duals are real hard on 4th gen fbody's)

headers are not worth it on those cars w/o getting LT's, but the install is a bitch

From what I gather the install for longtubes on a ls1 is far easier than on a lt1, verbaitem from Chuck and Joe on Horsepower Television...

as I understand it, Long tubes ,a cam and tuning can yield 400whp.

Kinda kick myself in ways.

you have to drop the engine down a bit to do LT's on an LS1, I hear its a NIGHTMARE, esp w/o a lift

I have seen dynos pn LS1tech well over 450 whp with cam, lt's/exhaust lid/ls6intake.

the cam I almost bought for dads car yielded 414whp tuned, with lt's lid, dualies and LS6 intake, and its lower level cam, the X1 MTI cam.......... biggthumpup.gif
