nitropropane Options

I was reading an old issue of hotrod magazine (january 1996) and they had an article about nitropropane.

they say that nitropropane unlike nitromethane mixes well with gasoline

they say that mixed properly with gasoline you can get some pretty good HP gains.

they mixed it at 10% with gasoline and gained near 20 HP.

they also mentioned the the reason for the gains is that nitropropane has oxygen in it and when burned it releases that oxygen for combustion.

the only downside that they mentioned is that it promotes detonation from it's explosive nature. The article recomends richening up the air/fuel ratio to remedy the detonation factor and that forged pistons with race gas could also help remedy the detonation.

they performed their tests on a carborated 350 SB chevy.
they also destroyed there first engine due to "violent detonation"
they had to raise jet sizes in there carb 1 size per percent of nitropropane

has anyone experimented with nitropropane in any platform, and has anyone experimented with it in a DSM???

I think that for someone to experiment with it using the proper datalogging equipment and fuel adjustments could make some serious power with it.

Sounds too volatile to me. There are plenty of other safer ways to make more hp.

I'd just with nitrous. More HP with less danger...Unless to go too far!
