 Driveshaft Failure? |

Anybody ever heard of the main driveshaft breaking/snapping in a 1G AWD? If so where does it break at? I took my driveshaft to the driveshaft building shop here in town and he wanted to know which components fail most often so that he could try to avoid reusing or including them in the new (2-piece instead of 3-piece) lightweight driveshaft.

Update:
After searching DSMTuners website, I've found that for the most part, the yoke is the weakest part of the stock driveshaft. One member even chimed in that he was running 10s (I saw the timeslip) on the stock driveshaft, he just kept breaking yokes. Any further information would be helpful though. The yoke is the weakest part. We were able to break drive shaft yoke on demand. We now run an upgraded transfer case which allows for a larger yoke. The first 2 sections of the driveshaft have also been replaced with an aluminum one.

Interesting. Please elaborate on the upgraded transfer case if you will Darryl. More than likely, that route won't be necessary but it still interests me to find out the alternative to stock parts.
I may just end up taking the stock yoke and having it cryotreated if need be. 400hp is my goal for this year, 500hp is the overall goal. -------------------- "I hear he tunes the space shuttle also...and that thing is fast"

Nice upgrade. Too bad it isn't more affordable. Driveshaft hoop? That doesn't sound like a bad idea really.
