I hate to disapoint you but both places mean everything to insurance and car lots.. Both keep value pretty good. Look up Supras or a Buick Gn...


I posted that SPY because i went thru the same thing when my older IMP got totalled by someone while it was parked in the road.. They had State Farm and my car booked 4 $700 and all's i wanted was the $1000 i payed for it just one month b4..

I went thru this hole find us some with value and i brought tons in for sale and ended up get $1500 for it.. lol Not a big fan of State Farm..

Actually insurance and car lots use the black book which is unfortunately not free to the public.

Worded that wrong.. Value in what a dealor should pay for one and what they are selling for.. There is four sections in a black book but can't remember them..

The value a car has as retail is the same as KBB or Nada..

Rough, Average, Clean, and Extra Clean.

And Black Book is almost always less than KBB. It is more up to date on market value of a vehicle than the internet based companies (from what I've seen. For example, Black Book componsated for GM employee pricing all summer, while KBB and Edmunds did not. They were pricing used cars higher than you could buy them new through employee pricing) and they actually use auto auction (mostly Manhiem) information to determine the value of a vehicle, and usually have more accurate lending value than NADA.


At least, thats from what I've seen. So for once, I actually have to agree with Image on this one.

But yeah Spy, for the record, I'd call my lawyer too, seeing as a dealer has actually priced the said vehicle and that is what State Farm asked for. Its not like they can really complain about someone not bieng timely My roommate has been waiting 6 months for a settlement on his Stratus.
