Photoshop?

Doesn't look like there's enough room for the tranny in there.

I don't think it is a photshop. The V8 shouldn't be any longer than the stock 4-banger, and the GM FWD automatic sits mostly behind the engine.

It looks like they grafted the entire Caddy front subframe under it.

If you look really close at some of the hoses they are not quite the same in both pictures. it also looks like in plug wires are straight in one pic and then slightly angled in the second. Not to mention that the plug wires are more faded from lightening the engine image...

That is definatly not photo shop!

You can see where they welded the caddies subframe to the talon in the first pic. Right front corner under the headlight.

Let's start here. The back right of the engine compartment from both images blown up 200%... Notice the readability of the mitsu build spec thingy. One has the DSM logo, the other...nope. How about its placement in relation to the four bolts on the firewall. ohmy.gif Oh and what is that? The bolts are staggered a different direction too. blink.gif The solenoid wires on the firewall, huh those are different lengths and not the same in relation to the bolts either.

I didn't say that it wasn't good work, but it is "shopped".

What got me to think it was shopped is in the first pic where the fender comes over the front of the front tire. Looks really fake. That and with the light source coming from the angle it is to be able to really see any shadows and the couple that I did notice after looking for awhile didn't seem consistent with the angle of the picture.

Better PS work than I can do right now.

readability always declines on non-full res pictures that are blown up

also, the hoses could actualyl have moved, maybe the pics were taken at different times

The reason the bolts look to be offset differently and at a different spacing from the plack is becaust the lower bolts are further back on the firewall than the top ones. At least that's what I'm seeing.

It looks like a chop to me because of the lighting difference on the plug wires versus the car and the sharp lines cut between the body and the engine. I can't say for sure but either way it's a lot of work. That kind of weight over the front wheels may even help cut down on some wheel spin. laugh.gif

Try it with your glasses cool.gif on next time. Even in the original pictures it is obvious that the bottom left bolt is way closer to the plack than it is in the other picture.

Go ahead, knock yourself out. You haven't showed me anything to convince me it is a shop. The offset bolt holes and plaque look right to me, but maybe that is because I can actually visualize and comprehend in 3D (No glasses required).

Is a Northstar Talon that hard to swallow?

Both images were doubled in size, clarity should have been reduced equally.

If you save the pictures to your system and view the advanced properties it indates that they were both taken 2/22/2006 at 6:33pm with a Sony MVC-CD500 camera.

The insulator (thicker part) on this hose seems to be a different length in each picture. Oh yeah, and it terminates into the motor mount?

That car looks like it had the 420a in it. That would be my guess because the fuse box is on the wrong side of the car. Is this right? I was just curious, as I have not seen the 420a in person.

So when you "visualize 3D" distances change? I understand the perspective being different but a bolt will not appear closer to the plaque because you move 6 feet to the right. There are plenty of othe little items (blurry pixels, brigthness differences, sharp eges, etc...) that indicate some editing work, but I am sure if you are a believer you will discount them as well.

As far as hard to swallow... I have seen some nude Britney Spears pics online that look pretty good, and I want to believe, but when you see the blurry pixels around her neck all hope is lost sad.gif

What is the story on these pics since you posted them?

I want the story... I'm sure that you have had a ride in it right? With that big ass wheel that will allow for 20 degree turns...

I am not going to invest any more time in it because you are either so narrow-minded that you can look through keyhole with both eyes, or you are screwing with me.

No, I haven't ridden in it yet. But I don't need a ride to believe it. Story is, a guy had a Talon with a 420A, and wanted to swap in a Northstar.

I guess you are too narrow-minded to believe this swap is possible.

I will post more pictures when I get them.

NO YOU DITN't!

If I weren't trying to keep my Talon in a pristene stock like appearance I would LOVE to shoe-horn a V8 into that bitch.

I'd like to do a Dave busher RWD but with a big bad V8 stuffed in there with a tactfull yet menacing scoop on the hood to create curiosity. In fact that Caddy motor and transmission would be better at the rear axle. Take everything but steering and suspension from the front and use the torque in the V8 to drive wheel stands down the road. Oh Yeah! There's nothing wrong with ingenuity. Shiat...if it's turbos you love there room for two on the V8!

But no one want's to bite off something like that? Why did this thread die? Even Marty (RacerX11) got quiet! You got the mad tight welding skillz Marty! Let's do this thing. Well after I get a boat, 3 cars, and a pool all put together. Then I'm wide open. biggthumpup.gif

I am in the same boat as you, Marcus. I have three project cars lined up to be finished. One of which is stuffing a V8 into a small car, so I don't really need another. I am willing to provide technical expertise if people are serious about doing this.

Let's get a shell and Frankenstien one up. biggthumpup.gif

Were you drunk when you wrote this? wacko.gif

Not a drop. I just get a little crazy when people get a too extreme IMO on keeping a car as designed or are afraid to tinker. We can build it better, faster and stronger, without the restraints of pleasing the general public for higher sales numbers. Make it your way. You CAN DO IT... ALL NIGHT LONG! biggthumpup.gif

I have brand new, still in box hydraulic Engle Racing cam with 480 lift 274 dur. on intake and exhaust, Iskenderian racing hydraulic lifters, and valve springs good to a .520 lift. These parts should be good to over 7000 rpm's in a small block.

I was saving them for when I got around to doing my 350 in a small car but I don't see that happening in the near future so I might be willing to let them go.

I got over being pissed at my car for being broken over a year or two ago. wink.gif

The four bolt small block and cam parts is starting to sound appealing. cool.gif

To back up my claims for those that have only known my DSM adventrues. I've still got a 46 Ford truck that I stripped, cut the entire frame apart, rewelded back together with all tubular cross supports at a narrow gage to fit a MustangII front suspension crossmember (Regular Street Rod swap), boxed in the frame at the ends for stiffness, fabricated new spring perches for the rear and bolted in a Chevy Rear suspension at that narrow gage by removing and re-welding new mounts on the axle housing. Custom motor mounts for a Ford small block and new cab supports were all fabbricated and welded on as well. In short I had total disregard for most of what the engineers had designed this truck for and made it the way I wanted and could afford at the time.

This spirit still runs through every project I do, it's just temperd a bit now by nowing the less things you change at one time the better chances you have of getting thigs running a lot quicker.

AWD on the CRACK. biggthumpup.gif

Is that 274 adv? That seems like a very small cam for 7000rpms.

Then again, I wouldn't go with a hydraulic again unless it was a roller.

I've got a 454 shortblock if you'd really want to go big.

I hate all things 5.0....

I've got a .060 4 bolt block in the shed, it might clean up nice with a hone.

Even got a spare engine stand to put the project engine on...
