Well the 14B looks to have puked it's seals. I haven't started disassembling the center section yet but the exhaust side is coated in oil, along with filling the o2 housing and downpipe.

So I plan on using the info :Turbo Rebuild

What I'm looking for is recommendation on rebuild kits. There some on EBAY

Anybody have personal experience with any available kits? Or any tips I should know before rebuilding?

Wow...nobody's rebuilt a turbo before?

Any input would be great. I got it apart no problem. The seal are trashed, very hard.

Just trying to decide whether to just replace the seals, or rebuild the whole thing.

I rebuilt a small 16g turbo, it worked great until the thrust bearing broke for some reason(probably installed wrong). Spooled almost as fast as a T-25 for its short lifespan.

Might as well do a whole rebuild while you've got it apart.

As long as I could keep buying 14b's for about $125 back in the day I never rebuilt one. I was actually afraid that I wouldn't get it back together correctly for the high RPM required.

Yeah I here that, but I hate to buy a questionable high mile 14B and have it blow again. It cost me $150 to flatbed tow the thing home from Peoria, I can't afford to keep doing that! biggrin.gif

I'll probably buy the whole rebuild kit and do it right. My research of new and used 16G's put's that out of reach right now money wise. Plus it would be too easy to get into the 11's...that wouldn't be fun! biggrin.gif

Towing insureance... cost about $20 a year. would have made that towing bill $50 or less. biggthumpup.gif

Thanks for reminding me...I need to call and see if I have that on my issurance. I know I have it on the wife's car.

The really crappy part was freezing my but off waiting over an hour for the tow!
