As many of you know, we've had some technical difficulty with the site lately. Apparently our server was having some configuration issues that were just recently corrected. I appologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Because of this recent issue and previous problems with the gallery storage limit, Mike has been researching other services available. As luck would have it our one year agreement with the current service provider is about to end. I have already registered with a new provider upon Mike's recomendation. Mike will be conducting the transfer details over the next couple of days. If there are any changes or updates that will affect your use, we will pass that information along.

This yearly service costs roughly $90 per year. So far myself, Mike and a couple others have chipped in to make this happen. If anyone has any ideas on raising money for such causes or would like to make a donation please contact me.

Thanks,
Marcus

Are you still selling stickers? Maybe a small annual dues would be in order (like $5 or $10), since I'm sure costs will rise in the future. Might not hurt to start saving a little now. Next time I see you, remind me, and I'll make sure I get you something for all the help that this site has provided.

That is a good Question David, Thanks for asking:

My PayPal account is awd4kicks@yahoo.com for any one wanting to make DSMCentral donations. I don't use this account for anything else, so it can be kept separate from my personal and business transactions.

I would prefer to do this with a bit more formality but I won't turn down any support.

If this does turn into a free-for-all donation, then I will see about making a treasury account to make sure everyone knows what's in the kitty and where the spent money has gone. This could simply be a lockked thread that lists in and out going moneys. No names will be revealed on the donations.

Again let me know if anyone has a good money raising idea. I think this import drag race that we are planning for Cordova has some good potential for just such an arrangement. We have Susan Hudson heading this up and she is currently waiting to hear back from Cordova. This is a much longer process than anyone guessed!

Thanks,
Marcus

I think that dues, as much as everyone hates them, may be the way to go. But then how do you enforce it. I mean you don't want to say someone cannot post unless they pay their dues. So maybe the way to do it is to make a little money off of the dues and then in return a member gets maybe like a t-shirt and a sticker. You have stickers and if not I am sure that Gabor with DSM decals that does our decals could do some for us fairly cheaply. And I could look into the T-shirt deal.

That way people get something for their money and it makes it a little extra incentive for those people who don't want to join- to join.

Just a thought.

And yes, it appears that the Cordova thing could be a money maker. There could be a different member price versus non-member. Gosh I don't know for sure but it is definitely something to look into seriously because just like the web service provider, nothing in life is free.

I know I'm a bit of a newer person here but my take is

Dues
Sticker Sales

Heck, I'm picking up the parts car today (finally). After I sell off the 'big stuff' I'm willing to make it into a DSMcentral parts car. Haven't really thought it out but maybe minor parts free to DSMcentral members with donation into the kitty? Something along those lines. Or help me find buyers outside of DSMcentral and I'll split the proceeds with the kitty? Should be doable to make a couple years service fees out of it.
