hey guys!!!
nothing wrong with it yet, but i have 93,000 miles on my gsx and the stock turbo is still pumpin for the 4g63. i was told that turbo life is usually coming close to an end right about where i am at. i dont know if that is true, if not someone please set me straight. also, would it be possible, effective, economical or even worth rebuilding the stock turbo if something does happen to it?????? i would appreciate your input, thanks!!!!!!! -------------------- You CAN sleep in your car, but your CAN NOT race your house!!!

I've personnally seen turbos from unmodified cars with as much as 185k on them that still work fine. I wouldn't worry about it until and unless your turbo starts showing signs of wear.
Personally, if my stocker ever went bad, I'd probably just go for an upgraded turbo. The dealer wants $1400+ for a stock repacement, and you can get a brand new 16g for as little as $450. -------------------- The fastest car I own is a minivan....

ok, new question,
i have turned my boost up to 15 lbs, now every now and again by boost guage will jump to 18-20 lbs when i am in the throttle real good. is that a problem with the controller, turbo, wastegate, or something else??? by the way it does have the supporting mods to handle the 15 lbs!!!!! -------------------- You CAN sleep in your car, but your CAN NOT race your house!!!

It's called boost spike and is fairly normal with a stock turbo. From what I understand, it's just the split second that the wastegate takes to open.

ive seen that before but usually it will only be for that split second that it takes to open. but what i'm talking about lasts until i let out of the gas. is that the same thing???

That would be boost creep. Could be caused by a broken mbc giving you inconsistent boost. Also could be caused by carbon build up in your wastegate housing not allowing enough exhaust gasses to bypass the turbine since you are using the original factory turbo. You might want to try turning the boost down for the time being until someone can log your car to see if the high boost that you're hitting is causing bad knock. If you can make it out to the farm meet this weekend, I can log your car for you.
