but does anyone know the size of the socket that goes around the spindle nut. or a way to get the transfercase off without taking the axles off. I dont have that right size socket.....stupid metric system.....

Last time we did it my buddy almost got a black eye from trying to yank it off. Lucky for him it missed his eye and landed square on his cheekbone. Just be careful and this won't happen to you. If you really want to take the axles out, I don't really remember the one that goes around the spindle nut.... we actually use a standard socket that's close enough it doesn't round off the corners of the nut and does the job because we don't have any metric that size either. All I can say is that it's one big mother.. OH, and be sure to pop the axles back in properly when you're done. There should be no shaft/space in between the transmission casing and that little green triangle block on the end meets up to the transmission.
