So KOU and I decided a couple months back to install AWD halfshafts in my 90 FWD...they fit perfectly and all, except spun freely inside the sleeve when I got on it.
Turns out that the 90fwd halfshafts are like 2mm bigger in cicumfrence, yet have the same number of splines. This is a warning to the rest of you guys out there, for future reference. The halfshaft will fit, but not sit flush and spin freely when you put a little torque to them. Anyways, so we put 90FWD halfshafts in. It worked fine. Well it is my belief that when the AWD halfshafts were spinning freely they ground down the sleeve. The correct halfshafts now break loose under very hard, highspeed turning. Which means no autoX for me, and also no drag day at Cordova (I doubt they'll stay put with slicks). So to make a long story short, I need to have my trans re-sleeved on one side. I would like to have the 91+ sleeves put in so I can run AWD halfshafts. Marcus, any idea how much SloPony would charge for this? -Nick |

QUOTE (wortdog @ Apr 14 2004, 05:44 PM) I don't think there are any 'sleeves' in there, just get the whole differential from a 91+ FWD and have SloPny drop it in there. It shouldn't be very expensive at all. You'll have to double check that its a drop-in replacement though. All 90 cars should have been junked long ago for being too different ![]() ok I was under a different impression. I hope I can just get it replaced rather cheaply though... |
