QUOTE (!gottadream! @ Apr 22 2004, 10:02 PM) thanks for your replies. midwest, what all do u use to polish? I am still tryin to perfect the shine ![]() Right now we use a variety of different setups, we are still trying to figure out a way to get the perfect shine with the least amount of time! Everything has turned out great so far though and we are cutting down times everyday, while the products are looking better and better! Our actual process involves taking off the pores and dimples on the pieces surface first to get a smooth look. This can be done using many different tools, and right now airtools with a buffing wheel coated with a gritted paste seem to work the best. So do sandpaper wheels, but it leaves the surface a little scratched and the scratches have to be buffed off. There are a couple other steps in the middle, but I will skip to the actual polishing. Actually polishing the material is pretty easy. Just get polishing and buffing wheels and a polishing compound (you can find them at sears) and polish away! Coat the wheels with the compound and just hit it a few times with a stationary wheels (or if you wanna do it the DSM way and be ghetto about it you can just use an electric screwdriver or something and attatch a small wheel to it and polish away). Like I said, its pretty easy once you actually get the process down, but if you don't have the right tools for the job, or the right technique it can be VERY time consuming. Best of luck of getting the wheels done! |
