I've been holding off on putting my alpine headunit in my 97 gsx for a while now because I was told that the wiring harness that is made for the car isnt wired correctly and that it will short out the wiring in your car if not installed "correctly" (as in, by knowing which wires arnt properly labelled or somthing..) I was just wondering if this was true at all, it sounds like total BS, but I'd rather be safe then sorry.

Also, the only reason I've finally decided to put it in is because the stock player wont take cd's anymore. When you go to put one in it wont "suck" it in like it used to, and if you push it in, it will just spit it back out at you. All it says is E 02, I looked in the manual and couldnt find anything about it. hopefully someone can help. Thanks

im tryin to remember to when i put my pioneer in my '95 TSi, it originallyhad the cd player on top then a radio on the bottom and i went to circuit city and bought two harnesses, one pioneer wiring harness and one talon-to-pioneer adapter. from what i remember this was pretty easy install (ive done like a hundred of these types of things so maybe im more experienced) but make sure it all works before you put it back together, and if it doesnt, then make sure your ground wire is hooked up to the frame somewhere. if you go to circuit city,(dont know if there is one where you are, but i highly recommend going there instead of best buy or wherever else) they will sell you both harnesses that will just plug into each other. one plugs into the existing harness, the other to the head unit, then those just plug right in, you dont have to splice or rewire anything. so if you arent sure about it, get those harnesses and save yourself $30 and do it yourself, it will teach you something new and you'll feel good YOU got it to work.

then i just got a pocket from a freind from a 1g dsm and put it in place underneath the cd player, looked great.
if you have any questions let me know, ill help ya out. good luck!!!
