OK. Im totally stumped on removing the timing belt. I followed the VFAQ and got to the part where you use the special tool (modified battery tie down bolt) and compress the auto tensioneer pushrod (step 11 here) When I screw the tensioner tool in it seems to do nothing. I can get the allen wrench to go into the tensioner body but not the tensioner pushrod. I'm assuming that when I tighten the tensioner tool that it is supposed to have some sort of effect on the tensioner push rod? It doesnt really seem to have any at all. Does anybody have any suggestions for removing\installing a timing belt? Most of the head pull has gone super smooth except for this one step. Also, I have no balance shafts so im not concerned with removing the balance shaft bolts. Thanks again!

Mark, just unbolt the tensioner. The belt will almost fall off then. You use the vice to compress the tensioner before you put it back on the car (not WHILE it's on the car wink.gif ).

Yep, that's what I meant to say. Sorry it wasn't more clear when I said it biggrin.gif . Hope all goes well.
