1: Loosen the metal straps that hold up the tank. Keep the nuts on the studs, but this will drop the tank 2-3 inches, which is all you will need.
2: Soak the screws in PB Blaster or equivalent penetrating spray, then remove screws. 3: The fuel lines DO NOT HAVE TO COME OFF. 4. When you get the screws off, there is a plug in the bottom of the tank that serves two purposes. 1, it holds the pump bracketry in place, and 2, it is the drain plug for the fuel tank. Remove this plug, and be ready with a clean drain pan, approximately 2-3 gallons of gas will probably still be in the tank. 5. With the tank lowered and the plug and retainer screws removed, the fuel pump assembly can be removed with the fuel lines attached. It won't look like it at first, but it will work. Take a good look at it, visualize how the the pump sits, pull back and rotate the assembly out of the tank. 6. The wiring is the easiest part, it is really self-explanatory once you have the pump assy. in your hand. 7. The only part you may have to "customize" is the black rubber isolator (a plug that locates/helps secure the pump to the bracket). Simply look at the old one and how it held the factory pump in place. A utility knife will work fine. 8. Put the assembly back in and seal it up. As a side note, the aftermarket pump will be noticeably smaller than the factory pump. Most are, and this is nothing to worry about. Hope this helps. -------------------- 2009 Scion Tc
