If any of you are wondering...the balance shafts are used to balance the motor and counteract any unwanted engine vibrations that Joe P. Schmo the "I drive it to work and that's it" guy may not like. Honestly, I don't notice the slightest difference between the old motor with shafts and the new one without. The 4g63's rotating assembly is so well balanced you really won't that big of a difference. However, your engine will. 6lbs of freed rotating mass is like hitting the jackpot. Your car will rev much faster afterwards. It has a similar effect as if you put a lightweight crank pulley or lightweight flywheel on. Basically, trying to eliminate as much rotating assembly weight as possible.
