So today, im cruisin along, Bam, no power stearing and my battery light flicks on. I lost the alternator belt obviously. But thats not it, I parked the car, and all of a sudden i notice an extremely loud and fast Ticking noise, definitly not your usual lifter tick, coming from the head. I'm going in to evaluation mode right now to figure it out and am seriously stumped. Enless its a lack of oil (which i havent check as it was to dark at the time), i dont know. Also, i noticed when i stepped of the car when i parked it, it smelled a bit like antifreeze, i popped the hood, and sure enough it was a stronger odor. Any ideas fellas?

Hopefully this brief movie helps, or even works for that matter.

I'm gonna have to agree with wort on this one. My 2nd gen lost its harmonic balancer (rubber piece on the crank pully) The crank pully is actually 2 pieces of metal with a hard piece of rubber inbetween them. The second gens have a problem with this rubber becoming dry rot and breaking. Also was the timing belt recently changed? Did you replace the tensioner as well? When my tensioner went bad on the 1st gen, it made a noise like that because the tension was loosened on the t-belt so much that the belt was literally slapping back and forth making a loud and rapid TICKING noise. Check your e-mails too. wink.gif Good luck!
