I just bought a block off of ebay, tell me what you guys think, it was 350, i have one problem though, the guy wants to charge me 400 EXTRA to ship it from pennsylvania, i could understand that much if it was a whole engine but i think he is rippin me for just the block, tell me what you guys think though, and what is the engine ear that he is talking about? he said an engine ear broke off

That broken ear is where one of the transmission alignment sleeves is supposed to go and also a transmission mounting bolt. If I'm looking at the picture correctly is the bolt hole towards the front of the car, meaning that broken area also contains the threads for the tranny mounting bolt.

If it were me I would pass it by for another engine in good shape. You can always look into someone that welds cast iron, but I've nevver heard anything good about it's strength. If you do decide to go through with it, you can get a quote online from UPS if the unit weighs less that 150lb's packaged. If not you can call a trucking line and get a quote. Remember that this guy will need to spend a good amount of time and some money packaging this thing up to keep it from further damage.
