ABS, weirdness.. Options

When I was coming home from work Friday in the slush/snow, I noticed that the car was idling higher than normal (2k instead of 750). I had an errand to run and it got worse. The car barely slowed down if I let off the gas. I could put in the clutch at 3K and it would just stay there. After 5 seconds or so, it would kick down to it's normal 750. The other thing was that the ABS was kicking in every time that I hit the brakes even though there was no ice or snow on the road. I was beginning to not feel safe because it didn't want to slow down like it should. It would pull to the left a little too. I had noticed in the past that when the ABS starts to work that the engine would rev a little, I assume to make sure that there is enough power to keep the ABS system operational. I figured the weird engine RPMs was related to the ABS working non-stop.

To test my theory, I hooked up my logger cable, which puts the ECU in diagnostic mode and disables the ABS. It took it out and the RPMs were normal and, of course, the brakes were fine too. I ran an errand later with the logger cable attached and it all worked fine.

So, this morning I was going to take it to Meineke and have them check the ABS for me. I took off the logger cable and headed out. Everything worked fine. I didn't even bother going to Meineke since it was working as it should. I've driven the car five times today and it has worked flawlessly.

Anybody know what's going on here? I had thought that a sensor had failed but I wouldn't have expected it to start to work by itself.

It is the rain and snow that is shorting them out. You probably got a bare wire somewhere. Or one of your sensor is shorting the same way.
