Fluid Capacities Options

what are the fluid capacities of the Transmsion and T-case for a 1G GSX.... I know I will be using GM syncromesh for the Trans... what does everyone seem to be using for the T-case???

it's def about 3.5 quarts for the trans and I'm thinking 1.3 for the xfer case. I usually always buy 4 quarts for the trans and 2 for the xfer case. between spills and periodic checks and the associated spills inherent there, I think that's about the right amount to purchase.

now the type of fluids is a whole nother ball of wax. Personally, I use penzoil syncromesh in the trans and redline heavy weight shockproof in the xfer case and rear diff. Though I've heard that the lightweight shockproof is better in a colder climate like ours (during the winter obviously), and I've seen all sorts of recommendations on the trans fluid.

I've heard from darryl that MTL redline pits the gears, though I've heard from others that a mix of MTL and syncromesh is best. GM syncromesh used to be what everybody used if they didn't want to pay 16 a quart for BG syncroshift from RRE. Now there's BG syncroshift II that's even pricier, and pretty much everybody that I've heard from says it's not worth the extra money. There's also a thread on the dsmlink board that covers fluid selection in the trans and xfer case from guys running significantly faster than I am.

where do I get the redline shock proof fluid from???
