I'm starting to think that my car might be a little too loud. Guy at work said he could hear it inside the building from about 60 feet away at idle. Anybody got any favorites that would still perform fairly well, but quiet the beast down? Just getting ideas.

I'll share a little obscure and useless information on this topic just to add a bit of information to the pot.

I have also been looking for a quieter, more stock appearing exhaust/muffler option. You know that I don't want to scrifice performance, so it's a tuff search.

A company called ANSA has an advertisement in the SCC magazine. They claim to supply all the exhaust for Ferarri and that their excellent systems can help our sport compact cars out. After e-mailing and calling them I found that they can only provide a generic muffler for our 1G DSM's.

These generic mufflers are very nice looking and you can get dual tips for tht stock apearance. Problem is, they are just your run-of-the-mill straight through muffler with insulation to muffle the exhaust note. Supposedly Ferarri is the inventor of this muffler style from the 50's. Besides this lack of improvement, the largest muffler inlet they supply is 2.5".

So this may be a nice upgrade for those with stock exhaust that don't want to upgrade their whole system (Not a good idea) or for someone with a 2.5" cat-back that needs a new muffler. However, this will not help Rob or myself out.

I'm still hoping that someone will come out with a noise cancellation muffler for the DSM like they have for the Corvette's and Vipers through Corsa.
