first things first...
 secondly... i am picking up a 90 trans and transfercase to put in my DSM this weekend. my concern is the difference in the shifter assemblies. i know that the shifter is different in the 90's as well as the linkage, the mounting bracket, and the assembly on the trans. my question is if i use the 92 linkage cable bracket (the one that is mounted on the trans) will that allow me to have all of my gears? or do i have to pull the shifter assembly out of the 90 trans and put in the assembly from my 92? from what i understand if i put the trans in AS IS i will not be able to reach 1-2 or 5-R (i can't remember which one it is) any input would be appreciated. thanks. --------------------  |

I've put 2 90 transmissions into 2 92's, if you just swap the bolt-on part of the shift levers you end up with a really nice, short shift feel, assuming the 90 trans is in good shape at all. You can overtravel and break forks if you're hamfisted with the shifter.
