90 trans into a 92 question Options

secondly...

i am picking up a 90 trans and transfercase to put in my DSM this weekend. my concern is the difference in the shifter assemblies. i know that the shifter is different in the 90's as well as the linkage, the mounting bracket, and the assembly on the trans.

my question is if i use the 92 linkage cable bracket (the one that is mounted on the trans) will that allow me to have all of my gears? or do i have to pull the shifter assembly out of the 90 trans and put in the assembly from my 92?

from what i understand if i put the trans in AS IS i will not be able to reach 1-2 or 5-R (i can't remember which one it is)

any input would be appreciated.

i got the trans in and started filling fluids and proceeded to pour $30 in gear oil onto the garage floor. i pulled the transfercase back off and the drivers side drive shaft seal was leaking like a siv.

from what i have read you can replace the seal with out pulling the trans out. pry out the old one with a flat head screwdriver and press the new one in with a large socket and make sure seats all the way in and evenly all the way around.

has anyone ever done this? the other questions (which is probably a stupid one) but can i just pull the seal out of my other trans and reuse it or do they get doestroyed when you pull them out.
