Last friday I was driveing down Vets and I heard an odd noise comming from the engnie bay. Millaseconds later the car lost all power. Yeah...you guessed it the timing belt. Turns out that my impact was running low enough on battery that it didn't get the front crank blolt tight enough. In turn comming loose and walking off of the front of the crank, and advancing the crank 2 teath on the timing belt. This is what I found yesterday when I pulle the head.

That's why I use a torque wrench on everything!

I use a torque wrench on anything I can as well. However, it's very dificult to torque a bolt on the front of the crank and keep it from turing over. Even with it in gear and the E-brake on the car was still trying to roll over me. The only way I have found to sucsessfuly tourqe this bolt is to have the motor out of the car and have a buddy on the back of the crank with two bolts and a breaker bar.

put someone in the car standing on the brakes?
