OK we went and got an oil filter housing and some other parts tonight. It came out of an auto 6bolt. Also most postive that it was a turbo because the oil pan had the oil retun line hole. Now here is the ?. The hole in the housing that my old turbo feed line went into on my old housing is blocked off wih a threaded blocker in the used old we picked up. And doesn`t look it has ever been removed. Is the oil feed on a 6bolt different than a 7bolt?

Stock, 1G all oil feed lines come from the fitting in the head. All 1G oil feed lines in the oil filter housing are blocked from the factory. It is a modification to get oil to the turbo from the oil filter housing. Oil from the oil filter housing is cooler and cleaner than from the head, but the pressure is higher which is bad for some aftermarket turbos.
There is also a difference between the '90 and '91-'94 oil filter housings due to the air-oil vs. water-oil coolers. The differences are spelled out in this RRE tech article: http://www.roadraceengineering.com/instruc...lineinstall.htm |
