Alright...it's almost here.
For any of those planning on going to the special test and tune racing at Cordova this Sunday, get ready! There is a group of us meeting at 7:30 AM in the Bartonville Kroger parking lot. We will be grabbing some breakfast and then heading out to the track after that. The weather is supposed to be partly cloudy and in the 50's. So cross your fingers and hope the weather holds out with the possiblity of improving! The entry fee to race is $40, but if you just want to watch I'm sure that your more than welcome. Marcus BTW-I'm not sure if that's how you spell this guy's last name. (Vickory?) -------------------- In Loving memory of David T Crebo

Darryl, which lifters are you using? Try this website out. It has many suggestions on getting rid of knock problems. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/phantomknock/ . It has helped me diagnose and cure a few knock problems. Not Marcus's unfortunately. Apparently only race gas takes care of Marcus's knock.
My car ran best at a couple of 13.2's at 99 and 100 mph. I had mixture in my tank of about 65% premium and 35% 112 oct. race gas and I was running 20 psi of boost and still seeing enough knock to pull back the timing a few degrees. Funny thing is both of these runs were made with me rolling across the finish line in neutral because the car wouldn't shift into fourth at high RPM. Marcus and I tried to fix this at the track by adjusting the shifter, but to no avail. I think I've finally remedied this by adjusting the clutch engagement yesterday. I think the biggest help will be breaking in this transmission with some city driving. She has better time's in her, but I was still very happy about being in the low 13's. Esp. on cylinders that are reading 125-135 psi of compression across the board. The achievement I'm most proud of is my 1.65 60' time. I was averaging 1.8s, but I pulled that 1.65 out from somewhere. I just need to find it again. A big congrats to Marcus to add to all the other congrats that I gave him at the track for running a mid 12 on a 14b. I'm proud to know a someone and help tune a car that can run 12's on a stock turbo/intercooler setup. Congrats also to Dan for breaking into the 12's with Shamou. You really should paint the bottom of that car white. Congrats to Josh for finally breaking his transmission. Welcome to the club of DSM tranny breakers. Congrats to AIP for running 14's in their 12 second all motor Civic. I'm sorry. That was mean, but I couldn't help myself. I'm sure there's a perfectly good reason why it wasn't running in the 12's. Probably wasn't running right or something. I had a great time at the track. Its basically like street racing...just legal. Downside, is you have to pay for it. Upside is, you don't have to worry about cops or other traffic. Overall, it was worth the money. I liked it more than the Shootout because it wasn't organized. Heads up, run what ya brung. Good times. |
