Today I am going to buy a black 1990 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX. My favorite cars are black, and I've always wanted an turbocharged AWD car. Though I think this goes back to my wanting to be unstoppable. What can I do to start off as far as performance modifications? Let's say I have $3000 to spend on STAGE 1.
1. NGK platinum spark plugs, Magnecor spark plug wires 2. fuel filter 3. K&N filter 4. Overhaul gasket kit 5. timing checked, alignment checked 6. high-flow cat and Thermal 2.5" cat-back exhaust, 4"tip 7. fuel pump 8. manual boost controller 9. boost and air/fuel meters any comments or suggestions will yield a spike of enthusiam from me. p.s. should I do anything else inside the motor while it's apart for the gasket kit? (port/polish anything?) thanks! ryan |

Ryan,
That sounds like a pretty good start. Personally I wouldn't bother with the platinum plugs, but NGK is the way to go. I assume that you already intend to hack or remove the air can and remove the silencer behinf the MAS. If you have the ability you definitely get gains from porting the Exhaust manifold (2G preferably), the turbine inlet and the O2 housing to allow the waste gate to flow better. You can match port the exhaust side of the head but only the top racers seem to get gains from serious head porting. That's my .02, there should be plenty of other good opinions out there.
