Dangerous, I know.
With all the recent trials and tribulations with the car lately, some personal financial issues, and just life in general, it's made me take a step back and evaluate a lot of things lately. Of course one being the car... After cracking the valve cover Saturday, I was about ready to push the POS right out of the grage and down the ravine behind my house. Thankfully my wife was there to beat the piss out of me and make me reconcider... After calming down and thinking rationally for a few days I've come to the realization that this car just takes a lot of work and TLC to keep it in tip-top shape. I think my daughter says it best - "Daddy's race car! Vroom, vroom!" She's right - it's pretty much an all out race car! That's what made me really stop in my tracks... I can't afford a race car! The whole idea of Project POS was to get a dependable, fun, daily driver. So far it's yet to be dependable (broke at least 3 or 4 times in 4 months), fun (I like wrenching, but I also like driving), or a daily driver (I've put 500 miles on it). Hmmmm..... The wheels really start turning now. I think I've come to accept that my "race car" may need to find a new home. One that has the time, money, and resources to help it live up to it's full potential. As for me... well I think I'll get a Honda..... Yea, right!!! I think that Project POS may be on it's last legs, and Project Fun, dependable, daily driver may be taking it's place. Basically, I'm thinking about selling the Red GSX and finding a stock 92 AWD in good shape to start from scratch on. I've gained an enormous amount of knowledge from all the work put into this car, and I wouldn't trade it for the world, but the practicality was never there. Don't get me wrong, I really like this car and it has TONS of potential, but not with me. Price has not been set, but is being looked into. Let me know if anyone is interested. I'll probably post on that in within a couple days. So... How many of you think I'm completely bonkers... This will make 7.... Lucky 7.... Hmmmm... maybe that's a good thing. -------------------- The fastest car I own is a minivan....

QUOTE (kris @ Aug 12 2003, 12:12 PM) QUITTERS!!! Shame on the both of you for spreading this negativism. With all the broken cars on this board the last thing we need is a wave of guys wanting to get out from under the weight of their problematic cars. The best thing to do is not think of all the money, time, and effort put into the car. Just blindly force your way ahead and do whatever is necessary to get the car running better than ever with as many new parts as you can sell your soul to afford. The Kris 144 creed? Maybe if I had as much free time as you do, it wouldn't be a problem. |
