Ok, since I opened up the exhaust I decieded to get a new air filter for it as well.
I have narrowed it down to two; HKS Super Mega Flow air filter, and K&N F.I.P.K. Both, as far as I know, replace the air box, and retain the MAS. The K&N filter gives a 7.7 hp gain, and I dont know what the hp gain is for the HKS. SO my questions are: Has anyone used either one of these filters? Did you like them? What are the pros and cons of each? What's the hp gain for the HKS filter? Does the fact that they are "wet" filters hurt the MAS? Will either of them fit in future intake pipe upgrades? I'm hoping to order one of them on Monday, so any help as fast as possible would be great. |

i used to have the hks aircan/filter for my dsm. they were ridiculously overpriced.
the foam filter elements flow a little more air, but they dont last long and if it starts to deteriorate, you will be sucking bits of foam into your engine. i have been running a k&n filter with no aircan for a couple years now and despite not having as good of flow rates as the foam elements(when new), it flows better in the long run, it is reusable, and it is cheaper |
