Little surprise in my block Options

With all the rain today in my 'garage', I wasn't able to drop my completed engine in. So I took the time to tear down my old, original shortblock.

I found that one of my rod bearings decided to try turning in the rod instead of turning on the crank. It probably only spun once or twice, but its still kind of scay. It wasn't knocking at all. The crank looks just fine on that rod journal, but its probably a little out of round due to the spun bearing.

Well, the weather in my garage cleared today, and the engine and tranny fell into place. Fired it up for the first time, started on the first try, but it was running on two cylinders and there was oil dribbling out of the timing cover. Two of my injector connectors were loose, and I had forgotten to torque down the balance shaft belt tensioner bolt(I'm lazy and just left it there to seal the oil leak ).

Its a whole different car with the Spec Stage 2 clutch and Act Flywheel, I like it a lot. Now its time to break in the engine and clutch in time for Cordova
