I am in need of a rebuild of the turbo on my neon. Its a 20g (mitsubishi) turbo and i need to have it fixed. I found a rebuild kit for it on gpopshop.com for like 134$ and i will order this but i need to know if i should have the turbo balanced. The issue i am having with it is that oil is filling up my intercooler piping, which in turn leads to bad seals. It has a little shaft play so im sure this is the issue. I have done compression checks and cylinder leak down test to be sure the piston rings are fine and everything has checked out ok.

So, do you guys recommend rebuilding myself or sending it to someone? I have faith in my self but need to know if it is neccessary to have turbos balanced after a rebuild. i think i remember chris rebuilding a 14b and posting about it at one time (correct me if im wrong buddy).

then rebuild kit is $134 and to send it to them and have it balanced and rebuilt ( and they upgrade anything they can) is $425...

what should i do guys???

thanks for the input, i also thought that they were internally balanced from the bronze bushings keeping everything in position. Most of the time its just the oil seals that go bad but i have taken a 50 trim apart and the bronze bushings had some play in them as well around the shaft.

I think i am just going to order the kit and do it my self. Marking the shaft and blades is a good idea and i well also use that method.

thanks for the input
