"supposedly" my new eclipse is the fastest car among my freinds. (i beat the supra biggrin.gif ) problem is, its only fast from 3rd gear. i cant get traction in first or second. what are the best ways to remedy this? ive heard of equal length halfshafts but dont really know too much about them. i was wondering about front lsd's. i found a Phantom Grip front lsd but have never heard of them before. does anyone have experience with these. any info is greatly appreciated. im still getting used to driving the fwd compared to my previous awd, and im sure some new tires would help too. ok well thanks.

My first DSM was a FWD and getting traction was always foremost on my mind. I did the equal-length halfshaft conversion that you mention. I also had a phantom grip installed. It made a good difference as far as straight line traction and acceleration go. I also had an aftermarket suspension set full stiff in the rear to keep as much weight on the front tires as possible. Obviously, sticky tires help out a bunch as well.

If you are suffering from wheel hop you may want to look into stiffer motor mounts. Another option for better traction in the lower gears is a multiple stage boost controller which limits your boost in the lower gears so she can bite, and then allows MAXIMUM BOOST in the higher gears.
