More tranny questions, Yes, a DSM with a screwy tranny:) Options

OK. So im stumped. My transmission goes into 1st 3rd and 5th just fine, but 2nd, I have to put it into gear(or what should be in gear as far as the shifter's position, then wiggle it a bit and I feel it pop into place. Same goes for 4th and reverse is almost impossible. When I move the shifter to where its supposed to be in gear, I feel a bit of resistance as if something were stretching. I thought maybe the cables were binding but I checked all of the cables and they are fine. I'm almost positive its a problem with not the tranny itsself, but rather something before the cables meet the transmission because if I mive the levers on the outside of the transmission by hand, it goes into gear just fine. WTF? Do I need new cables? I'm stumped! Oh yeah, if I granny shift its usually ok, but shifting at higher RPM's is a no go. Also, when the car is at a dead stop, or turned off it goes into 2nd and 4th fine. TIA!

For a race car I think a welded center diff isn't a bad idea. Sends equal power to the front and rear with no slippage and its more durable. Marcus has the spool in his car which does the same thing just with no welding. You'd have to ask him if he thinks the price difference between the two is worth it. The problem on a daily driver is since the front and rear wheels are forced to turn at the same speed, its pretty hard on the CV joints at low speed, sharp turns like in a parking lot. Marcus could tell you more. This is actually being discussed in another thread on here as well.
