The factory freak is one of the fastest if not the fastest fwd car I have ever ridden in. Perhaps even faster than my own fwd factory freak that I sold a couple years ago. It will be sad to see this car go after all the fun that it has had around here. Spy is NOT BSing when he says this car has put down many a stang, camaro, and even a few vette's and if you go for a ride in it you'll see what he's talking about.

Definitely worth the money.

Well, I've been smoked by a the FFGST on highway runs in 2 of my cars to date.

I can't tell you why it feels so fast to the other drivers with so little mods. But there are a number of dyno sheets to back up its performance. I'd have to search around for the posts but it was relatively close to Phil Beer's (owned the 14B record for a while) numbers if I remember correctly.

I don't want to misquote Phil's numbers but I know Spy put down like 268 pound feet of torque if I remember correctly. On pump gas I think.

As to the car's maitenance. I think Spy will be the first to tell you exactly how hard he drives his cars. Knowing him for some time I'd say this. Spy pushes his cars hard. But he doesn't abuse them.

The difference in my book being things like the turbo swap he just concluded and the methodical changing of exhaust studs before the last dyno session. Religious oil changes and quality gas with careful tuning seem to be de rigeur with most of those Peoria guys.

If you search back over Spy's posts here, you'll see that he enjoys his cars, drives some of them daily, but takes maniacal care and pride in them.

Just my $0.02

Yeah If I were to buy a car I would like to know how hard this thing has been driven... I mean Im a younger guy and I have my Jeep and a Camaro and I know I run the hell outa them... not to the point where I brake stuff or am stupid but just "use" its potential lol. But like the owners before you were they abusive drivers? and are there any quirks or odd things with it?

For the money the FWD Freak is an impressive little car. DSM's in general have their "quirks", and I caution anyone who's looking at one that if you don't like working on cars, don't buy one. These cars are made to be modified, and modifications ultimately lead to breakage, which leads to modifiying the broken parts, blah, blah blah.... It's a vicious circle that we all love. biggrin.gif

I noticed your sig, and thought I'd mention that my dad has a 93 FWD Eclipse GST for sale also. Not near as fast as the Freak, but it's got a few things done to it, and it's VERY clean. PM if you're interested.

10 car head start huh? i embarassed a 98 (new body style) vette in the "gem." i thought that was pretty good considering the mods on that car. and yes the vette was a manual. it was no z06, but all vettes are pretty quick. that must be one damn fast car you got spy. i hope you sell her to someone who knows how to treat her.

Id say good gas mileage yes, I have a nearly 300hp jeep as my daily driver, and it gets 10 miles to the gallon... Didnt think you quite realize that good gas milage is to me (anything above 14) So ok well if your in the peoria area I can find ya, instead of trying to meet somewhere and getting times mixed unless you have to do it that way. And yes I have the money and can get it (not "if the bank gives me the loan" all i gota do is pull it out) so if thats enough for a test drive... im just looking for the right car more or less not just trying to find something in my price range. So if you would like to PM me or email me at the_toter@hotmail.com It would be much appreciated.

So your wanting me to bring cash? Like I said, I have it there is no "well I might be able to get it" Im just looking for the right car. I understand that you have had not to great luck with trying to sell the car... but if I like what I see and I feel the car is worth it you might possibly have a sale. Also Saturday works im free all day! so PM me with a number I could get ahold of ya at to get directions and all that good stuff.
Thanks alot
Ben

Wow... think thats a little downer on my day. Well I do fully understand where you are coming from. Except Im not most kids and I do some stupid kid getting it going way to fast and indangering others. But I live on a farm and have been driving everything with wheels since i have been 7. I understand how cars react with the steering pull while excelerating... I do have a close to 450hp camaro that is just as is powerful as you car. No it doesnt pull anyway when you take off but it does like to kick sideways and then kick the rear out when you go into 2nd and 3rd... Im just saying that I know that you care for that person and others. But im not most kids yes iv had my close calls from others but im not going to be doing anything stupid with this car around anyone I can hurt. I just kinda had my hopes up on this car and just didnt want to get shot down like that. Either way I will be 18 in a little while. biggthumpup.gif

How does one acquire a near-450hp Camaro at 17? I want your life. Good thing spy isn't your parent, you could kiss that car goodbye! On a small note of concurrence, I got my first DSM (92 GSX) when I was 17, even stock, it was a handful. Now, 7 years later, having a slightly tuned fwd is troublesome at times. I have ridden in the freak, and can wholeheartedly agree that it is difficult to drive safely, and I would personally assert that I would have had a rough time with the car, even given a racing history from the age of 14 (shifter carts, lots of fun). Just my $.02. Also, on a side note, anyone with the intention of buying a DSM and subsequently installing APC stickers, painting ANY interior pieces, or generally performing modifications that would gain notoriety in Chillicothe or the like, should be shot.

If you can truly handle a 450 hp Camaro, then I doubt you'd have any problem handling the FFGST. Its got some power, but no where near 450.

The camaro was bought it 1973 when my dad graduated high school... he kept it threw the years and i have always had a great intrest for it... So when i tured 14 he gave the car to me and i took the motor and rebuilt it. restored the interior and threw on some cragar s/s's and BF Radial T/As. But my dad says he regrets sometimes letting me build it like that because he is not very mechanicly inclined when it comes to car motors so he just said well as long as your paying for it... He did shut me down at the thought of a blower... But anyway after we got it done and i had everything back in order and the shift kit installed my dad was the first to drive it (because I let him after he offered to let me but since it was his car) He didnt get on it that much beings it was a fresh motor but it scared the F*CK outa him and he has driven it only 1 time after that.. And like I said im not buying this car to just go fast.. i just need a daily driver that has heat and air... well my jeep has plenty of air... But im not just buying this because it fast I already have a FAST car i just want a car no one is going to laught at me for driving! biggthumpup.gif

Small block 355ci 11:1 hyperutonics, Edelbrock Performer RPM intake, race deamon 800cfm carb, ported and polished cast iron heads, stainless steel 2.02 and 1.64 valves... accell HID that about sums it up... 450hp on a non forced induction small block is not hard to do... and really cheap... you can get up past 650 numbers with a small block naturally aspirated motor...
