I was at the shop today with Ryan (mitsu 77) and we were installing some new KYB struts on a 1g Talon. I read through the warnings by KYB and they claimed that the maximum you could lower the car with their struts is 1.5 inches. After that the warranty does not cover anything that is lowered more than 1.5 because the strut is not meant to go down that far. Problem being, I was figuring on buying a set for my Intrax springs that lower the car 2.5-3 inches. I'm going to email KYB right now but I figured I might get a more timely response if one of you guys new the answer. Thanks

Most shocks are the same way... they're just not built to take the extreme lowering. Not sure if there are any out there that do warranty them with that much of a drop... they should work for a while though. Definately won't last as long as they should, just a fact of life I guess...

I just installed a full set of KYB AGX on my 1G FWD. I also happened to use intrax springs. The Intrax springs, in my opinion, are too low not only for the struts, but for the car as well. I fully regret the purchase, and will be buying Eibach Pro-Kit in the near future. I bottom out the front suspension on speed bumps, at 2mph. The struts are fantastic. No complaints. If possible, I fully recommend going with a different spring. Also, the ride is way too stiff, even with the struts set on full soft. This is my impression of the set-up, and will not say this info is accurate in all cases. I simply believe the springs are FAR too low for the car.

Looks like Tokico offers a warranty on theirs and just openly states that it will be void on excessively low vehicles. Honestly, I wouldn't call just over an inch lower than stock FWD 1G vehicles excessive. They are pretty vauge by just saying excessive, but I guess that probably keeps them out of trouble as well. They do however offer an exchange warranty where I could just take them to a local dealer for a swap. Looks like I might try those.
BTW, I'm not worried about speed bumps or ride quality that much. This car's main purpose is to look good and have the balls to back it up when necessary. I'm not going to be driving it that often so it's not all that important (1-2 times a week) If need be, I will swap the springs for a little less aggressive set. Thanks for your input guys -------------------- "I hear he tunes the space shuttle also...and that thing is fast"

i have kyb agx's w/ eibach pro kit on my 240sx. i believe they are set on 4 front and 6 rear. i really like the feel of the suspension and i like that it is adjustable. i do wish however that the springs were a little bit lower. they are plenty stiff for me, but unless you knew, you couldnt tell it was any lower than stock. i am probably going to buy Tein springs pretty soon, either that or JIC drift spec full coilovers so im not too worried about it. but i like everything about the strut/spring combination i have now. as quality goes, they are both very reputable, very good companies, i just wish it was a little lower.

TurboMeTroy, I'd be interested in seeing your car sometime before I make a decision. Let me know and I might be able to swing by sometime. Where are you located?
