well I was installing my fuel pump today. The pump is in the assemly and ready to go BUT. I just accidently broke the positive stud that the bolt screws on to hold the wire onto the assembly.
What I am wondering is. If I just solder this wire directly to the assembly is this bad? Or should I try and find a whole new assembly and start over. |

Are you talking about the tiny little stud that holds the ring terminal? That should be part of the actual fuel pump itself.

no, theres one on the assemblys itself. some cars have it bolted in while some cars require splicing.

another idea. punching a whole through the lid of the assembly and just hard wiring it in to wiring harness.

I'd just solder it, and forget it.

QUOTE (natedogg @ Apr 23 2004, 03:25 PM) I'd just solder it, and forget it. If I could get it to solder I would. But for some reason it doesnt wanna stick. |

that was fun. I just drilled a hole through the lid and hard wired it into the harness. works like a charm. just need to put a dab of Silicon sealant on the hole and im done.
