New version Translator. My understanding is that the originals were very easy to work with, but lacked in the fine tuning arena, but they are much improved with Ver 2.0, and still easier to operate than the S-AFC. Also, if you pick a sensor out of a yard, it could be about $100 cheaper. My .02.

Well damn, now im more confused than i was before i posted the question. I think im going to go with the GM MAS. I found a setup from green performance for a 3inch 2.08 setup shipped for 280$. But damn, I can get a safc2 for 280$ also. wacko.gif Hmmm looks like i might have to do a coin toss to decide here.

Go with the MAFt translator. Easier to tune, less intake restriction, etc. If you buy the SAFC you'll need a 2G mas relatively soon as well.

But you might want to source your own 3" GM MAS. From what I hear they can be had a lot cheaper than $80. Of course I'm still looking for a couple so that doesn't mean much.

I am however running a MAS translator on all the cars here (2 up and running and one installed on a project car), so yopu can see where I'd lean there if I were you.

A 4"! Geez, what did that come off of, a diesel? I don't think the MAFT even calibrates for a 4" MAF. Last I checked there is calibration for a 3", 3.5", or the Z06 3.625".

I have had an easy time tuning my car in with the 3.5" MAF in drawthrough. Its pretty user friendly and doesn't seem as finicky as the SAFC was when I had that installed on my old fwd. I haven't installed my version 2.0 chip yet which allows for the finer tuning. I probably won't until I get some good strip runs in on my current tune with the older chip.

Draw through is before the air enters the turbo i.e., factory set-up. Blow through is after the turbo, usually on the uicp, after the bov, between bov and the t/b. Allows bov to be vented to atmosphere w/out momentary rich condition or stalling, etc.

They sell an adapter to use this MAF. Its from a suburban IIRC. I bought it a long time ago when I thought I was going to be needing it. PM me if intersted.
